Hello,

I thought it would be a good idea to start a new topic to post the renderings of models built in mecabricks.

So here is my version of the Ecto-1 LEGO set:

This was the first time I used the Cycles renderer from Blender and the node editor. I really enjoyed doing it and I'm looking forward to improve my skills.

Very nice Kamteey!

Here's my newest render. It was my first time using the Blender Compositor seriously, and I really like how it turned out.

The detail of textures and the overall improved look to the very first LEGO Movie is just breathtaking. These bastards of Animal Logic.

The animation looks really good! My only complaint is that they altered the character design. The ninja's look much different from the TV show, and may take some time getting used to. 😛

That animation is not bad. Not bad at all....
I am glad that they at least kept the same characters. It's kind of funny that every time a new LEGO movie is announced, my first instinct is not, "Wow! Great animation!" or "Wow! Wonder what the story will be?" but "Wow. Those hair pieces are crazy." Every time! Although if you look at them in a certain way, both the hair and their looks are based off of their current looks to some degree. I very much like Lloyd's new one (he no longer looks like a blonde Anakin Skywalker), and the others are fine, I suppose, but Kai's hair is WAY out of left field! And Nya does not look much like Nya, except from the front. Wu is fairly normal, which is good, though... Zane looks to be the Robin of this movie, with that ludicrous grin. 😛
I do like how they are using real-world scenes in a rational scale for nature. That is kind of cool!
One thing I do not like is the fact that Lloyd has colored eyes. I feel that, generally speaking, colored eyes should be reserved for possession, blindness, extremely deliberate eye coloration, or something else odd. Zane makes sense, but Lloyd might not. Maybe it's green energy?

I bet that we will see things from other themes, if the other films are anything to go by. Also, will we see...the Postman? Who can tell?

Also, what is up with that insect-looking-snake-printed-cyborg-ball-helmeted guy invading the city? Is that supposed to be a Garmadon Minion of sorts?

The animation is top notch to be honest. Because they use a mix of stop-motion but with more freedom of the digital possibilities. What makes it really challanging is that they don't use the typical rigs of the common stuff where Minifigures can be bended. I never liked this because it looks stupid and to me this will not work because it's not LEGO plastic anymore.

The method they use will force them to be extremely creative because they have no easy rig for all kind of posing. Posing and action will be extremely limited. But this gives the whole movie a special style. They have to remove parts ike the arms or rotate things what would not be possible with originals of course but they keep the original look and feel. And that's very important. The Batman mask is one thing they need to rig with blend shapes for the expressions what they usually do by animated face textures.

Beside that the whole look and feel is totally amazing and eye-catching. Every picture is a blast to watch. The technology behind such a movie, the amount of people and the crazy logistics to handle all this shit makes the difference. That's modern animated movie making.

Mecabricks user compared to Animal Logic are like a few skilled people try to develop their own little car in a garage compared to BMW or VW.
