This thread is for help with the MecaFace add-on, such as info about updates. I will be answering any of your questions and also solve any bugs that you get and more.
ok thank you!
Thank you so much for this add-on!!!
you're very welcome!
Hi Citrine,
I'm having a problem making the eyelids work. I can move the sliders but nothing happens. Am I missing something? Any ideas?
Anyway, a wonderful job on the face rig. It's well worth it for just what you can do with the mouth. Thank you!
Hi Citrine,
I'm having another problem. When I first add the face rig to selected and then click Finish, it works fine. But as soon as I make any changes to the eyebrows or mouth and then click Finish, it gives me the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:UsersxxxxAppDataRoamingBlender FoundationBlender2.90scriptsaddonsMecaFace__init__.py", line 494, in execute
bb = objectss['DeOne']
KeyError: 'bpy_prop_collection[key]: key "DeOne" not found'
location: <unknown location>😶1
Thanks in advance. I hope you and yours are staying well and safe.
Click finish is for AFTER you changed all of the settings. Hopefully that solves your problem.

Just a quick question... if I want to make a custom eyebrow, is there a way for me to model one and then duplicate a flipped version for the other eyebrow? Or do I have to model each separately?
Hey Citrine, Thanks for commenting on my video and Subbing to me the other day! I want to ask, how do I add lines that dont just float in front of the face? I want to make it so that facial hair (a moustache, for example) morphs with the mouth. I draw the line and it doesn't wrap around the head at all.
make sure to select the head when adding the line! if your using mecafig then that might be the problem. as i need to update something to the code that adds the line.
How do I pair the new lines to morph with the mouth? Also Im using epicfigrig
thats complicated... maybe use a bone constraint, the 'child' constraint and set it to the face armature, and the right bone, and then set inverse?
Hi! I'm thinking about buying the MecaFig Addon, but i stumbled upon the line "Works with Cycles, but may work with EEVEE, but is not meant for it yet".
What exactly doesn't work? Has anyone experience with using the addon in Eevee? Is it seriously broken or usable?
It works fine for eevee, there is a slight problem with blender and the 'extend' setting on textures for eevee. which the teeth use. basically you can turn that off and switch it to clip, or you can scale the teeth textures so you dont get this weird problem. Its not that bad of a problem. So thats the only thing.
Ok, that doesn't actually sound that bad. I'll give it a try, thank you!
Hello, I bought this and love the pose library, but for the life of me can't figure out how to set a keyframe for the face so I can change faces. I am stuck using one face. Please, can you help me use key frames with this plugin? I hope this makes sense.
Select all the bones and tap "I" on your keyboard to set a keyframe. I generally choose the location, rotation, and scale keyframe for MecaFace.
Yep! Its like any other blender rig. Maybe search up on youtube for a basic blender tutorial or something for animation! but about what RC said, that works!
Hi Citrine, is it possible to edit an existing face? If not could you think about adding it? I can't wait to have enough money to buy this add-on. 😄
That's not quite how it works! It has a universal face that you can edit to look like another characters. and you can make and facial expression you want with it. its fully flexible!
Hi, I bought this add-on a while ago, but I have so far just used it for still pictures. A week ago I decided to try it for a short film, however I can’t figure out how to. I watched a few videos about keyframing poses, I just did everything they did, and it seemed quite easy. The only problem is the mouth, before I add in a keyframe the model looks like this https://imgur.com/a/Baq0GbH but when I move to the next frame the mouth ends up looking like this https://imgur.com/a/6EEu5KK . There is probably some simple explanation, but I'm just too noob at keyframing to find it XD
Hmm... After I tried to animate in the 2.90.1 version of blender it actually worked. The newest version of blender 2.90.2 made the mouth act super weird whenever I tried to keyframe it😕
