Successfully working on my first test blender.
Hi everyone and a special thanks to Scrubs!
I'm a total newbie when it comes to Mecabricks and Blender but the video helped me making a successful render almost at my first try. Using the latest template and the latest stable Blender software.
Awesome work on the template and the script. I don't know what it does under the hood but it just works which is enough for me 😃
Mecabricks is one of the best browser running software I have used so far. Intuitive and good performance. Well done!
I will try to add my first rendering to this thread later.
Greetings from Stockholm, Sweden
Thanks uvtrollet. Looking forward to seeing your pictures 😉 You can post them here in this thread or in the Mecabricks gallery if it is related to an existing model.
I started out with an existing model built by Hogi in Mecabricks:

This is the result. The first thing I saw that was a bit off was the glossy moon crater area but hey, it was my first attemt right? 😃
For some reason, Blender won't show .hdr files (or any other files for Environmental Texture) as renders themselves are showing up pink in previews. Any help?
Hi Thx 4 a great site and great render assisstance.
When applying a HDRi image to the template, I cant see it in "User persp" view. This gives me problems in orienting the HDRi correctly in relation to the model. If I start a new fresh scene, I have no problems. Any suggestions ? Thx.
Rgs.
Peter
In the Render settings under Film untick the Transparent checkbox. Note, that your Viewport Shading must be set to Rendered for the HDRi to become visible in your scene.
Thx, helped alot
I noticed weird reflections through transparent materials, see http://imgur.com/a/6EjG1
When rendering on GPU, such reflections don't appear, so it might be related to the OSL edge shader in connection with transparent materials.
Does anyone know of a method to render on CPU (with edge shader) while avoiding the reflection issue?
It's a scaling issue. If the model scale is smaller or equal to one, above mentioned issue may occur. Increasing the size of the model resolves it.
Yes, that's the issue. It's not dependent on the template version. After import avoid downscaling your model (or reset scale afterwards) as it will otherwise have an impact on the round edges shader calculations (size multiplier) which apparently can cause this effect. Instead reposition the camera (increase the backdrop size, if necessary). This fixed the problem at least for me.
You will need to download the latest version of the template to make it work after the workshop update.

hay Scrubs? how do I get the template update it just says you already own this item
Click on your account name, then on Purchases, from where you can download the latest template version.
Hi, For some reason, I can't always render all the objects of a scene. I think there is something regarding the name, so each group I try to render is renamed in "Model" and selected (and the parts as well)... But it does not work all the time
I have the Python script error.
I can't see what step I miss so that additional imports can't be rendered. Was there not an issue about running the script twice?
The script cannot be run twice.
Thanks. This explains a lot...
Edit : but in the end, it seems that some Collada files can't be rendered.
ok thanks wlange I will try that
Template has been updated to 1.8.3 (colour value changes)
