Hello,

I thought it would be a good idea to start a new topic to post the renderings of models built in mecabricks.

So here is my version of the Ecto-1 LEGO set:

Ghostbusters by mecabricks, on Flickr

This was the first time I used the Cycles renderer from Blender and the node editor. I really enjoyed doing it and I'm looking forward to improve my skills.

Really nice work !
Thanks for the tutorial, i will definitly watch it later !

It's pretty easy to add a displacement map on the ground. All you have to do it to generate the UV map of your object groud.

Go to edit mode

Choose the tool "Face Select" And select all the face of your ground by Shift + right clicking.

Once you have the faces selected, go to the mesh panel and add an UV map.

Them mouse over your ground, press U and clic unwrap.

Your done with the unwraping ! Now simply apply your texure and normal map like that :

Note : That only work for the ground. I didn't have any luck editing the brick yet, but i'm working on it.

This is something i've made in Source FIlmmaker. i don't know if this really fits in this topic since i've seen people posting Blender renders and such. but i though it would be worth showing anyway.

Thanks for the tutorials Zanna and saitogray!

Thanks SaitoGray ❤️ now I'm able to displace the ground!

David184, did you do some animations? Share them with us that we're curious!

I think RuMontag is an exceptional builder! Watch my last render about his [MOC] New Horizon...

(to zanna) i haven't done any animations yet. but i might be doing one. not sure tho
EDIT: also those houses took me long time to port to SFM cos i had to fight with limitations of Source Engine. also if someone has environment map that is used in Mecabricks then that would be nice, i would like to have similar shading.

Consider checking out following thread http://mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/72

(tp Sim533) hmm. i need something like this http://i.imgur.com/pa7lnGk.jpg ( from https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$envmap ) the texture i found in the link is great but i need that separated in 6 image files so i can make it compatible with Source Engine

David184, you can look for software similar to this.

I re-build a model of Chris McVeigh, check his website: he's a master-builder! 😛

This time I started from a pencil draft and I tried to reproduce the drawing with 3D renders, I hope you like it 😃 😃

P.S.: sorry for the black line you see on the right side of some image...

Very impressive Zanna!

Very impressive indeed!

I'm really glad you like it!

Any suggestions for the next render? 😛

I'd like to see you do kind of a Tron style race using my BFX-1 model. 😃

Ok! I can try 😃

Successful addition of lights to bricks!

UmbraManis, there is something strange with lights because bright pieces don't seem to cast shadows ... then, to be more realistic they should have a glow. I'm also trying to figure out how to do it on Blender 😛

This is my last render, the next one will be about your BFX-1 model 😉

Cool render Zanna! The lights aren't complicated at all, but they aren't very accurate either. Its just an emission shader added to specific pieces.

UmbraManis, I think that is not just simply add an emission shader, but we will find the way!
Now I'm working with Blender lights. By the way, here is the render I promised you 😃
