Well we're talking about poor pets, the saddest death on my farm was our cow, Buttercup. We raised her on a bottle, and she was friendly as a dog. She'd nuzzle you if you didn't give her enough attention. She gave us three calves before she got sick and died.

Buttercup loved us all the time, except when my brother and I rode her. She liked to try and rake us off under low branches . . . sometimes it worked, too.
