@HAMMERBORNE I actually didn't originally know there were 4 verses. I only knew of the first and the last. Not to debate, but the reference to "Slave" is actually referring to a group of blacks who were fighting for the British the Americans. I think it should be remembered that there were blacks also fighting for the Americans at the same time. The writer of our National anthem, who was an attorney general, actually represented some slaves in lawsuits to obtain their freedom. I think this verse is (though if history is not known may sound racist) actually not racist itself, but in reference to the group of slaves who were fighting for the enemy. Hopefully, that makes sense. 😃
