Greenie - Yeah, I 100% agree with you! 😃 Peter Jackson’s Middle-Earth movies improved on the books a lot.
Tolkien invented a great universe, but his love of useless information drowned out the narrative and characters a lot.
(World-building is important, but do we really need whole chapters about the type of tobacco Hobbits smoke, or the lengthy history of elves? 😩) The movies focused more on character development, and the actual plot involving the One Ring. For that reason, I liked them more.

(Also) Greenie - The Mitchells vs. the Machines. It’s a hilarious, animated satire movie, (on NETFLI😆 that came out last year. 😉

@Wiz Not quite... Peter Jackson's Middle-Earth didn't improve the books. It made some good movies, but it didn't improve the books. The books remain the same. They helped visualize a lot of things, and honestly may have had a more even flow in some areas... but they didn't "improve". Also, when it comes to how vast of a universe Tolkien created... yes, we do need whole chapters about Hobbit tobacco and elves... especially elves...

#Elves>Dwarves, just say'n

@Greenie, so it’s treason then
ignites saber

Jk😂

@Hammy Well, I'd better be hated and on the light side 😉

@Greenie
I was only jesting😂 I enjoy the first movie, there is some things I dislike about two and three, but I I still like them overall..
Also, apparently the romance was a studio mandate😁

@Hammer I know 😂, don't worry.
Also, that's one bummer of a studio mandate... did they actually think it was going to make fans happy 😆? Actually, they were probably looking at the general public, not die hard fans... but still... sigh... romance is required for just about everything these days.

the hobbit movies were bad.

first one was ok. second was trash. third was a bit better than second. elf/dwarf romance was weird, i agree.

Egh, I don't really like the Hobbit movies, mainly because there are far too many elves and dwarves in them. I don't like either.

@Greeny, I'm actually glad to hear you say you like New Zealand over Australia! I'm half Kiwi, and that side is quite patrotic. Especially when all my Aussie friends get together to bag NZ out 😂.

NZ is way better than Australia

Both books and movies: LoTR > Hobbit (tho make no mistake: i LOVE The Hobbit book, just LoTR is way more unique and intricate)
and yeah imo, aside from maybe some of the casting, The Hobbit movies pretty much sucked sadly

@Greenie, Dragon: no joke it's been my dream ever since i was little to go to NZ!!! probably wont happen now tho thanks to all this freaking covid crap 😭

(btw i asked this on discord and thought i might as well ask here too just cuz:
which sounds the most interesting?? ->
a: dark story exploring an underrated comic book villain and his downfall to evil (btw the villain is scarecrow from DC)
b: tolkien fan-fic (possibly a similar story exploring Sauron before he turned evil or maybe something different idk)
c: original sitcom-type comedy starring some of us but as an irl club or something (bit mor work to write tho. comedy isn't always my strength)
d: original, realistic superhero/crime/gangster/mystery story set around the 1940s-1950ish (would be unique in that it would be told thru the perspective of a police detective rather than the superhero))

also don't steal any of these ideas ^ or if you do at least make sure i don't find out

@KoE, I like C...

C or D sound pretty neat!

@Dragon You, you don't like either Elves or... or Dwarves? Wut...? I, ugh... I...

slays Dragon_Rider06 with a rubber pencil

Jk 😂... though, I'm actually pretty surprised. I love both 😂.

As far as NZ, glad to hear you on that! You seem like quite the unique Australian... or are you actually just from another realm entirely... perhaps the portal is in NZ, which is why you say your half kiwi 😉

@KoE I'd love to go to... and Singapore... and Ireland, and Scotland, and England, and Germany (I've been there once actually), and etc etc...

@Hammer, it seems... interesting. idk doesn't really feel much like LoTR but ig we'll see. ngl little worried tho i get more hobbit vibes with all the added characters and storylines. (and also that terrible cg when that lady is climbing the mountain 😂)
i feel like they might be trying to do to much. if i were them i would focus on just one main protagonist (or maybe two or three) and show the conflict of the second (or is it first? no it's second right? idk) thru their perspective instead of trying to copy GoT and making up all these new characters so they can have all these different stories. not that they couldn't get there at some point (this show's supposed to have like 5 seasons 0_o) but maybe not start off there.
(also, if i were them and i did do that, i would totally have a young Elrond be the main protagonist. glad they at least put him in the show)

KoE - That Scarecrow story sounds interesting… But you have to call it “Crane”. 😄
Hammy - I don’t have high hopes for the TV show. 1, It’s on Amazon Prime, which we don’t have. 2, They originally planned on making Gandalf a woman! O_O
