About this thread
You will find in this section everything needed to easily make photorealistic renderings of Mecabricks models with Blender.
Software and files needed
• Blender
• Blender Add-on by Mecabricks
• Environment images [e.g. zbyg Packs]
@Scrubs, that's sounds bad. It's harder to work with add-on (at least for me), and it seems add-on needs more computing capacity.
@SiMal Addon code as been optimized (have a look at it), is more flexible and includes features that were only available in the pay version before, all of that for $0. So it sounds really bad. Nothing is preventing you from modifying the code of the old script if you prefer to use it.
New revision 2.0.4
All former revisions do not work anymore as the workshop exporter code had to be updated.
Empty your browser cache and install the new add-on.

@Scrubs, you know, there's one proverb in russian. Best is enemy of the good. You did great work with everything, but man without experience in modelling would have big difficulties. I know, you can say that everyone is able to learn necessary things. But in this way simple hobby turning into a professional activity. Yeah, that's really cool, but I suppose that not every person will go so far. For example, I just can't learn some Blender basics, cause my brain melting from medical lessons in university. If you could create a guide for new edition of template - many others will be grateful to you.
SiMal, in Italy there is another proverb: don't watch in the mouth of a gifted horse (in English sounds a little bit weird 😂).
Don't worry: I don't have any modeling skills on Blender but I don't have any problems to change a little bit my workflow.
Then I guess you are clever, not by chance you are studying Medicine 😉
If I'm not wrong there should be a simple tutorial included when you download the template. 😃
@zanna, ha, I knew that I would hear this proverb))
Anyway, I would be very grateful, as well as others!
I must apologise cause I behave like a moron - I'm pretty stressed with exams this month(
Hello,
The PDF file in the package explains step by step how to install the add-on which is pretty straight forward.
Then just open the default template file provided and do file > import > Mecabricks (.dae). Done. You can even import multiple models in the same scene now. Let me know what you are missing or what you would like to have in it.
Good luck for your exams 😉
@Scrubs, thanks. I really need for some luck.
Anaway. The way to install add-on is crystall clear. And I have some guess-work.
After installing add-on you need to have some basic scene - with backgound, light sources etc. Is there some way to use scene from old templates or it's possible just to import up-scaled background?
I haven't used Blender in a while so I've forgotten quite a bit. Does anyone know how to change the decorations in Blender with the texture paint? 😕
@fatsomania36 This thread is only about the Mecabricks add-on for Blender not Blender in general.
@Scrubs I'm referring to when you import a model with the add-on. I thought it might be different than if you were to do it on a random Blender project. I can't figure out how to change the decorations. (I have looked in other places first 😉)
You need to modify all the parameters manually to fit your decoration.
Image Textures from top to bottom: Diffuse, Bump, Metal.
Only plug Bump and Metal if you have a map. Otherwise leave it black #000000
You also need to change the base color value. e.g. for part 3004d43 it would be the hex value for Bright Red (21).
If you have a metal map and the base material of the part is pearlescent, chrome or metal, you need to move the appropriate cursor to 1.
Oh, sorry I meant paint over a decoration, but I've figured it out. All I had to do was save the image after I edited it 😄. I feel stupid now lol. So sorry to take your time, Scrubs 😃
Updated add-on to version 2.0.5

Hello Scrubs!
I think your Blender Lite template is very easy way to render a great images of LEGO models. Congrat for it. I install mecabrick plug-in and i use your template, but on the render window I have a little problem. This picture is on the solid mode (all right here):

And this picture is on the rendered mode:

Why will the Rendered picture be pink?
Thank you in advance for your help!
@Petya You will need an HDRi for your environment. These are good ones if you're looking for studio lighting: http://zbyg.deviantart.com/art/HDRi-Pack-1-97402522 Some other great ones can be found here: http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html
You can check this post http://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/77
You probable forget the hdr image for light
The problem is solved! 😃 Guys, thanks for your quick help 😄
it would be useful to have more tutorials
