when i import a minifig into blender, naturally there isn't any face or texture on the body, but when i render the minifig the head and anything with texture goes see-through. what should i do?
Can you post a screenshot? What render engine are you using?
sorry i am new here how do you post a screen shot on this forum

i tried to send a screenshot but it didn't work
i am using blender 3.0
Are you rendering in Eevee or Cycles?
Here's how you can upload a screenshot:

i have tried both but they still have the same result. i also downloaded a later version of blender encase the previous one had a bug, but still the same result.
when i make a set it still makes the minifig invisible even when i render the scene as an image. although when i have downloaded a set it renders the minifig's faces and bodies, but when i go into texture mode they show up invisible.
have you tried using cycles? The free version does not support Eevee.
it still has the same result
what does it look like when you render it?
it seems to be working now when i render as an image

what i really want is to see the basic textures in texture mode so for the first few practices i could even screen record.
Ok, good... so the issue is that the free blender plugin does not support eevee, which is the engine that blender uses in the material preview view.
A few options:
I did this (#5) back in 2.9... YMMV with the latest blender release. here's a link:

i try to do this but it loads for a while and crashes
is it blender that is having the problem?
it works in the rendered view, but i can't get the textures in the shader view
This is Material Preview... Eevee is what runs it. MB lite doesn't work with Eevee or Material Preview. I believe that's what you're calling the shader view. Do not expect to see textures in Material Preview unless you modify the materails.
I am running Blender 3.1.0. The technique I used in the link above of muting the mb_decoration_normal node still works for me.
how do you modify the materials. when i see tutorials of people downloading a minifig with blender lit, they are able to go into the material view and see any faces or stickers.
My guess is that people are probably using either of:
a. The paid **Blender Advanced** which officially supports Eevee
b. Older version of Blender, where the **Blender Lite** plugin did work with Eevee (it broke in the 2.7 range)
This is what works for me through version 3.1 so far... It's the same technique as I previously outlined... it works on my windows machine. I'm not sure what will work on a mac though.
It takes forever for the shaders to compile... I cut that time out in the interest of file size
The downside to this technique is that you lose the bump mapping for the stickers and prints. If you want to put it back for the final render in cycles, just unmute the MB Decoration Normal node. (On the smiley, it is a sticker on the left and a print on the right. I did this to highlight the differences between the two bump map styles.)
thanks for the help i now understand why the material view isn't working. i am now just animating the minifigs in 3d view and then rendering the animation. thanks for the help though, at least able to make some animations.
