Changing face color without leftover yellow bits?

Is there a way to change the color of a minifig head without there being leftover yellow bits around the details?

This is something which happens to parts in the old part system, because they weren’t designed to be recoloured. Eventually all parts will be converted to the new part system and will be able to be recoloured without any of the background colour remaining.
