Orphaned parts?
penarthur66 a commencé cette discussion dans Bug Reporting

I am new to this but have built four or five models, almost every time I have managed by inserting multiple pieces in the same location to get parts in the rendering space which are not in the model tree and cannot be selected or removed.

The only way to recover seems to be to actually close the browser and reload the model, then the stray parts can usually be selected and removed.

Any ideas?

There is a function to delete duplicate parts, you find it in the selection tool(W-key) and it is called "Doubles". This will select all double parts and you can easily remove them with delete key. Maybe this could help you?

Do you have a simple sequence of events to always repeat this issue? Unfortunately, if the pieces are not in the graph (which would be a bug) the method above will not work.

I will try to replicate but I did save one "empty model" here - I could not get rid of the base plates so they are in the thumbnail, but not in the model.

I can do it regularly by starting a new model, selecting a brick (say a simple 2x2 block 3003) and adding it to the origin, then pressing D say 5 or six times to make several duplicates of it. Then drag one copy left a bit using the blue axis arrow, repeat for two more by clicking the centre brick and dragging right and forward. Then click on the centre brick again and press delete - repeat a few times. Eventually I cannot select and delete the centre brick. This latest time I could no longer select and delete the first brick which I dragged either? I just repeated this exactly and got two orphaned bricks again. Update: I can see them in the tree but cannot click on them to "physically" select them, and deleting them from the tree appears to delete them (from the tree) but copies are left in the model space.

I can see what's happening now. If I duplicate a block in place say 6 times, then select and press delete multiple times, it only deletes every other cycle, so eventually I have half the original number of blocks still visible in the tree. Then if I try to delete them from the tree itself, some blocks are left in the view which cannot be selected or deleted, and the browser has to be restarted.

As the OP mentioned, closing the browser and reopening the model works but so does simply refreshing the page

There is a bug somewhere. I'll work on that soon.

Thank you. It's outrageous what you've managed to do in JavaScript.....
