This is very confusing

I do not have a clue on how to animate since I do not understand how nodes work. The only thing I'm familiar with is keys to frames and tweening

So that it a different method. Until tutorials start to come, you shall watch the 10 episode series by Chris Prenninger. That is for Blender but it is very very similar.

Isn't there any alternative like maybe simple frame by frame animation similar to how stop motion animators use with a camera and posing the model? This whole node idea looks like a mess if your using more than one character.

Yeah, I think that idea would work..

This is how easy it is to use frame by frame

@lego2390 because it is not finished, because it is not just about character animation, because you didn't even bother trying, because you can animate Technic models easily, because it is a logic system which is fun and educational, because it can be applied to lots of other subjects outside of the LEGO world, because you can do animation with no special knowledge, because you can build procedurally. Etc.

@lego2390, Have you checked out Saabfans walk cycles? I personally like procedural animations as it work very well with LEGO mechanics, having said that what Saabfan has done I am sure it will work pretty well for other cases.

@lego2390, here's a rough animation I made using your model.

It could be improved a lot by playing around with the timing between different positions and the interpolation, but it shows that frame-by-frame character animation can be done using only a few different nodes types. I set location and rotation for every second, however you could easily do the same thing for every frame instead. Hopefully this helps you.

@XForce198 There is another feature that needs to be added that will help. There are key IDs. Basically you can record data (multiple) e.g transform data for an object and you can call them later inside the node editor.

I've been wondering about that feature for a while, but I wasn't sure if it was possible. It could definitely help a lot with creating realistic and believable movements and effects.

@Scrubs, will it interpolate between the keys? of course it won't help in frame-by-frame but may make it externally easy to do animations.

I think you're able to manually add interpolation by using the animate number or animate vector nodes.

Transform keys could be used as start/end of an animate vector node which as an interpolation input.

Awesome!

Is there any way I can make animations like this?

@lego2390 No that is stop motion animation, taken with a real-life camera and real-life legos.
