A few ideas
turnip26 a commencé cette discussion dans Suggestions and Ideas

Hi, I'm a brand new Mecabricks user and thought I would share a few ideas. Apologies if these have already bee suggested or they already exist. It would be really useful to have the following:

1: A custom list of recently used parts - when building a model I think finding the right brick takes longer than the actual building, especially if you don't know the codes
2: Custom Lists - so you can create your own inventory of bricks you use a lot, or maybe the bricks you own
3: Option to "explode" a model from the library so that you can keep the pieces (in a custom list) and use that selection to either build the model yourself or build an alternative design limited to the pieces of that model (e.g. the alternative builds of Tower Bridge and Big Ben into modular buildings
4: Not sure if this is feasible but some kind of indicator when the piece you are moving aligns properly with the piece you have snapped it to. I understand why you can't have a point for each snap option (e.g. one per stud), but it would be useful to know, when moving a piece, if a stud is position correctly into another piece - perhaps this could be done through a collision detector to show overlaps of pieces which should not occur.

Thank you. Awesome product and I can't believe how fast it is even on large models! Neil

Hello - having used Mecabricks for a few hours now can I please add:

5: When you temporarily group some bricks using the area option, if you then move the selection and make a mistake, when you hit Control Z the bricks are deselected - this is very annoying if you are trying to place a group of bricks into a much larger group of bricks because you have no easy way of reselecting them. Why does undo-ing deselect you selection?
6: It would be really good if you selectively unhide groups. You can selectively hide one or more groups but when you unhide it can only be done for everything which is hidden - moving the hide/unhide option to the group level would help a lot with large models.
7: Have you considered linking Mecabricks into the Lego set database so that you can select a set and "import" all the parts, which would mean all your bricks (and colours) would be automatically selected so that you can concentrate on the fun of building? When building a mid-sized model (1000 pieces), I think I spent as much time finding and selecting pieces as building them.
8: Instructions builder - without this users will be driven to other, lesser apps, because we need to be able to output instructions to share how our MOCs are built - is there a dev version coming for this feature soon?

Thank you. Could you provide some feedback to my suggestions to ensure they are the kind of thing you are looking for? I know you are concentrating on animation right now and that is very exciting - looking forward to having a play! Neil

I read, I read. I'll answer when I have a bit of free time.

Great, thank you.

Just a couple of comments regarding undo, redo and scene graph. To make it short it is all being remade to be more efficient and improve usability 😛
The "Groups" panel will be replaced by a new "Graph" panel. It will be available as part of the node animation project release.

  • Undo redo tools currently don't record the selection state but they will.
  • You can already unhide a group. Click on the group settings (cog) button and select "Show All". It will be much more obvious in the next version
  • No platforms really have 100% complete inventories for everything and even if they did, everybody has different custom references. That is just not possible to maintain such converter.
  • Instruction builder is being worked on by a third party. However it requires a ridiculous amount of work. It is at least as complex as the workshop which took me 8 years to bring to this level.

Thanks - what about 1 to 4 in my first post, please?

bro please help i closed the graph panel idk how cant use it anymore what do i do
