This thread is for help with the MecaFace add-on, such as info about updates. I will be answering any of your questions and also solve any bugs that you get and more.
Hi, Citrine! Thank you for this awesome add-on.
Btw, when I add a mecaface to a mecafig minifigure, the mouth would get split in the middle like this: https://i.imgur.com/NXXOFQB.png
I tried this with different figures but I keep getting the same result.
Steps were to just import minifig using mecarig and I click on the head and add face rig with mecaface.
I can't seem to figure out what's going on here, how can I fix this please?
Thank you
Hi feureau,
I think there is no problem with the mouth. Because the head has a low resolution, it hides a part of the mouth. You just need to increase the subdivision level of the head of your MecaFig in the sub-panel "HEAD" of the panel "Geometry" in the main MecaFig menu.
Yep! Helo is correct
That works perfectly!
Thank you @Helo @Citrine
Hi, Citrine!
I have a follow up question: How do you hide part of the face like the eyes, for example? I see there's an option to hide lines that you add, but for the eyes for example, I tried lowering the alpha opacity but it wouldn't disappear?
Thanks in advance!
Hi, Citrine!
I still can't figure out how to hide the eyebrows. Changing the base color's alpha to transparent doesn't seem to change anything: https://i.imgur.com/WmRA0ik.png
Any ideas on how to hide parts of the face?
Btw, I found that I can scale the tip of the eyebrows like this: https://i.imgur.com/GPPaW9A.png
Is this the correct way to use it or is there a way to scale the thing without having the controller turn so tiny?
I'm trying to get a shape that looks close to this: https://i.imgur.com/U6v1E8d.png
I'm on blender 2.91.
Thank you.
yes you are scaling it correctly. but to hide it you have to use the 'outliner' in blender. I recommend searching that up! and how to use the outliner.
ok thank you Citrine!
Why this addon is not free?
Please, can you give the addon for free.
Hey! The reason why its not free is because I put alot of work and time into it. And I also do support for people having problems with it, aswell as making updates for it. I also want to give the highest of quality that I can! The addon just keeps getting better and better over time. I hope you understand!
Hello! I have purchased the addon with the intention of using it mostly for lipsyncing, as the description stated it "includes every lip sync pose needed."
Unfortunately, I find it lacking some essentials, including but not limited to I and N.
I'm finding it difficult to create good lipsync animations with these omissions; are there any suggested workarounds? I have tried substitution (for example, using E in place of I because the shape of the mouth is similar) but it just isn't working out very well.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
hi! there are pose libraries for those. Make sure to check pose libraries!
Wait, where's the pose library? 😄
search it up! on YouTube. blender pose libraries.
Found it! Thank you!
It's missing quite a few letter-mouth -shapes though.
Yes, my apologies - I was talking about the pose libraries; as far as I can tell they only include A, E, S, R, L, O, F, W, Th, and M.
those are all the ones that are needed! if you look at it, when lip syncing some noises have the same mouth shape as other noises! keep that in mind! they are all there, i just named each mouth shape to the most used sound it makes!
I see! Thank you!
btw, I'm making some new custom faces, and I'd like to reuse them for when I add faces to my next figs, how could I save these poses so that the addon knows to add them for future use?
Thanks again!
you will have to append the action from the blender file where you made them
