Rendering Section Rules

Mecabricks is not an image sharing platform. Each artwork posted shall be carefully crafted and well composed. The purpose of this section is to showcase your best work only. Always favour quality over quantity.

Acceptable Entry Content

  • You must be the original creator of all images you submit. You may not submit an image made by, or on behalf of, someone else unless you have the authorization.
  • When using a background image, ensure that you have the appropriate rights. For instance, images from Google Image may be subject to copyright.
  • Image can only be posted once. If it is relevant to multiple models, carefully choose one only.

Entry Quality Standards

  • Image shall be computer generated using Mecabricks online render mode or any other third party 3D software like Blender. Screenshots from the Mecabricks workshop are not allowed.
  • Image background shall not be transparent.
  • Image shall bring something special to the 3D model.
  • Image shall be related to the model it is posted in.
  • Image shall not depict minifigures only unless there is something special that shall be explained. Adding a couple of bricks in the background is not considered a waiver.
  • Image resolution shall be greater than or equal to 1920x1080.

Moderation

  • Any images not following the rules will be deleted without any warnings.
  • Images do not disappear. If a render has been taken down by an admin do not post it again.

External services

To showcase images not following the Mecabricks rules for the render section, you have the possibility of using external hosting services like imgur.com which doesn't require any account. Upload your image and copy and paste the BBCode provided in a Mecabricks comment. It shall look like the following:

Thank you @Citrine, @SnapStudio and @ArmoredBricks for your help. I worked out a way to copy the renders as a .png file, and uploaded one of them last night, but it was taken off again. I know it says that they will be deleted without warning, but I wish they would give me a reason why it was not good enough so I don't waste my time. @Scrubs, could you please give me a reason if you can?

Can you post the image here and we may be able to help?

Errmmm..... I don't know how to add an image!

A link would be fine.

You have to upload the image to a image host site such as imgur or Flickr and then you can add the bb code here in your post to show the image.

@ArmoredBricks do these links work for you? The first link is the render that I uploaded twice:

This is the only way I can show them to you, so I hope these will help. These are screenshots of the original renders because Lego Ideas won't accept zip files (which is what the originals were). Thank you very much for helping me I really appreciate it.

Thank you @Sealund for your help, but I'm not on imgur or Flikr so I can't upload images. I still appreciate it though!

Imgur doesn't require an account, fyi.

(hopefully those tags worked)

EDIT
I had to download them and reupload them to Imgur.com
I tried using the url from LEGO ideas, but it didn't work

Thank you very much @PyrokineticNinjaMaster, That really helps! Sending much gratitude for your help and kindness.

@MegaFearlessDragon The likely problem here is that the renders are both very low-resolution with a lot of noise. I'm assuming they're free MB renders, not Blender?

OK thanks. They are free Mecabricks renders. Do you know how I can fix this? I'm not very good with computers, and am learning as I go along. Once again thank you for your help. I hope I'm not taking up to much of your time.

hey! An example of the quality of renders scrubs expects are ones such as ones Ive made. Here is an example:

it should be something that you put alot of work in, not only in the building aspect, but especially the render aspect, such as lighting, the cinematography, and post production, which is usually in photoshop. I hope you understand and start learning how to improve your renders! I look forward to seeing you improve 😄 . and happy rendering!

Thank you @Cirine for your help. Can you tell me how to get the best quality renders, or is it too hard to describe it here? I have been trying out more renders, and all of them are a little grainy. I have no idea how to make them better quality. I also keep wasting free renders, because there is no "lock camera to view" box to tick. This of course means that I can not see what my finished renders will look like. Any advice will be very much appreciated! However, I understand if you are too busy to help me further.

I believe that he doesn’t even use Mecabricks to render his projects, he just builds them here.

He uses an advanced program called Blender, which I have been playing around with as well.

As for the camera view problem, Mecabricks updated the camera feature a little while back, I was having trouble whith it too. But all that you have to do is make sure that you have no cameras in the project, then while viewing the project, position it to how you want the render to look, then go to render mode, and it should ask you if you would like to add a camera, click yes and then click the camera view button and you should be ready to render. Unless of course you have some settings to tweak!

If you want a bright render, I suggest using the last option in the lighting menu.

Hope that I was of some assistance to you! 😉

Hi! SnapStudio is correct. But blender isnt 'advanced'. it can be if you learn everything about it. but its actually really easy to learn.

@MegaFearlessDragon Blender is much more user-friendly and easy for beginners since the 2.8 update. 😉 You are fortunate not to be learning on 2.79!

Hi guys, thanks for your help. @SnapStudio thank you for your help with the camera issue, it really helps! As for lighting do you mean the area lamp?

Do you have to pay for Blender and do you have to download it? Would you mind sending me the link?

Sorry for taking so long getting back you all.

Many thanks.

@MegaFearlessDragon

I was referring to the standard lighting settings in the RenderFarm.

Hi everyone, thanks for your help. @Sealund thank you for the Blender link, I will have a look at it. One last thing: How do unzip a zip file? Because when I download my free Mecabricks renders they always download as zip files. I have to take screenshots of the renders to upload them on MecaBricks because the zip file won't work. I would be grateful for an answer 😃 Oh, and by the way, are these renders good enough for Scrubs do you think? If there are no renders for this model, it's because they were taken off:

As always many thanks for all of your help and time. If you don't have time then I really do understand.
