Telling the difference between printing and coloured area

I am finding it hard to tell the difference between where areas on parts are printed and where it is just the colour of the part, at the moment this isn't a major issue, but when the new decoration system comes into play it will become more significant, does anyone have any tips on how to solve this issue?
