I recently noticed an increasing number of posts on Mecabricks with the sole purpose of self promoting products that are identical to what Mecabricks provides and often based on my work. Therefore, I'd like to clarify my position on this subject.
If you create scripts, add-ons or other assets that are a complement to what Mecabricks provides in order to enhance the user possibilities, I am more than happy for you to promote it here. However, for products that are offering the exact same functions as what Mecabricks provides without any real added benefit, it would be fair to not use Mecabricks as an advertising platform.
Furthermore, please make sure that whatever you publish is complying with licensing terms.
For Blender based projects, only the python scripts are subject to the GNU license. All other files and assets (blend files, textures, sounds, etc.) remain the property of the creator. Therefore in practice, it means that you cannot redistribute identical or modified assets and blend files coming from the Lite or Advanced add-ons as stipulated by the Mecabricks general license.
Okay, I will stop posting links to my products on Mecabricks. Is it still possible for me to post Lego renders with my shaders on Mecabricks still? I'll make sure to not post links to any pages that link to my products (unless it is asked for?).
Of course. The render section is obviously open to everybody independently from the tools used to create the images.
Okay, thanks.
