Getting Textures for LEGO parts like (Scratches, Dust, Finger Prints) etc

I can not seem to find any textures for LEGO parts on internet, or Mecabricks, like (Scratches, Dust, Finger Prints) etc, do you take a photo of a part or minifigure and use that as a reference to draw it in a program, or is there a easier way?

Most (if not all) of the renders you'll see on here with things like that use the Advanced Addon by Scrubs: https://mecabricks.com/en/shop/product/4 😉

Might I add, that there are also likely tutorials should you choose not to purchase the add-on to make it easier.

It is actually quite simple to make a scratch. Just create a... actually here is an example.

Of course, these are just some simple things I put together in a few minutes. With time, these could be done much better.

Oh, cool! I was interested in this stuff quite a while ago, when I was making my entry for the contest, but when it comes down to it, the computer I use is just not power enough and fast enough to render photorealistic images, or even anything close, but I do appreciate these suggestions, also with building LEGO creations and making videos, blender just takes so much time to learn it and to do the things you need to do to make awesome pictures, so I just go with the next best thing... blender render, it's simpler, but it's works.

@FallingBrickStudios "Blender Render" engine will be removed from the next big revision of Blender (2.80).

Yeah, might want to make the switch ASAP. 😉

Why would they remove Blender Render? Is it considered unneccessary?

They developers have also made many more changes to the Blender. Blender 2.8 will be much faster than 2.79.

Hmm, well just because they are removing Blender Render in 2.80, doesn't mean you have to update to the newest version, that is unless you want the new features. For me it isn't that big of a deal, I don't render that much, and the computer I use probably couldn't run it anyway. But will blender just be cycles or is there a new engine?

[Edit] For some reason when I type the letter J in lower case it doesn't show up unless you highlight it, as you should be able to see in the word (Just) seen above.

@FallingBrickStudios Blender 2.8 will include a new engine (Eevee)—it's a realtime engine, so renders should be shorter than ever. 😉

@FallingBrickStudios True. I used to think the same thing. If you are concerned about render times you could try joining the Mecabricks rendering squad on SheepIt! Render Farm. It is a free distributed render farm for Blender. I use it for any cycles animations I make (which to be honest, isn't that much :P). I mostly "donate" computing power for other people on SheepIt!.

@Qwerty7556 This is a real time engine which is not physically accurate so renders won't look the same as in Cycles.

@Scrubs Yes, I'm aware. Still possible to get good-looking results, though, no? 😃

Depends what you want to do with it though. They don't have the same use.

True. But in animations, it doesn't always matter. When people create an animation, say a couple hundred to a thousand frames, they sometimes have a deadline to render the clip. Cycles sometimes cannot deliver that (assuming you don't have some hi-tech render farm), whereas Eevee can tremendously help.
