You'll find in this post all the resources and instructions available to make new parts and decorations for Mecabricks. It will be updated when new content will be added.

Decoration Workflow
Mostly current but needs to be updated to include bump maps and metal maps.

This thread can also be of interest http://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/128

Colour Chart
This table contains the hexadecimal values for all the materials available in Mecabricks as well as the conversion from other systems like LDD or Bricklink.
http://www.mecabricks.com/docs/colour_chart.pdf

wlange has also created swatch libraries for photoshop and illustrator: http://www.mediafire.com/file/tnfoui8jxkra6f7/Mecabricks+Colors.zip
UmbraManis did the same for gimp and inkscape: http://www.bricksafe.com/files/Umbra-Manis/OpenLDDFiles/Mecabricks.gpl

UV Maps
This folder contains all the UV maps available for Mecabricks. Please make sure that the decorations you create are of the same size as the corresponding uv map.

I also wrote a guide about uv maps for minifigure decorations https://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/1357

Icons
[Update] Icons are now automatically generated on the server without the need to use a third party software.

Drop Box
To submit you decorations, please use the Drop Box section of Mecabricks. Guidelines are also provided in this post.

Ah okay, I figured as much.

Part 3003d22 should have its print on both opposite sides.

thanks!

I'm wanting to make my own decals for using in blender, some I just want to tweak existing decals however, is there a way to extract the texture information from existing decals to make variants and modified versions?

You can export in a format different from zmbx like obj or collada on you'll get the png textures inside the archive. Otherwise with zmbx, you can import in Blender which will extract the textures and then export them as image files from there.

Thanks! I'll try those, while you're answering questions, is there a palette somewhere with the correct colours to use on decals to match lego colours?

Nevermind, I found your PDF

How to use custom decorations?

It is only possible if you export and render the models yourself for now. It is not possible to add them to the workshop.

Is somebody interested in creating the stickers for the James Bond Aston Martin?

@Stephan3321, Sure, do you have any reference pics?
Edit: Think I found them in the dropbox! 😃

Thet are indeed in the Dropbox. Only the 1x2 tiles for the grille not yet.

To make those stickers we need new uv maps for some parts
I was asking for them but steel they didn't appear

@Scrubs, could you create the UV maps for those parts winkwinkwink so we can bring the Aston closer to completion 😃

@RandomSetRecreates
Please elaborate.

The thing where you have to color chart and the uv mapping thing...my brain hurts...

Sorry, I know it's around here somewhere, but I can't find the color palette (for inkscape) or the pdf instructions for installing it... 😛 if someone could link them it'd be greatly appreciated!

@ArmoredBricks
