Export to Lego Digital Designer (LXF)

There should be a way to export to Lego Digital Designer. No offense but, Lego Digital Designer has some cool abilities. You already can import Lego Digital Designer files into your project so why can you export them? Thank you.

It has been one month! Can you please respond to my message!

For the moment it's not supported yet. At some point, it will probably come to Mecabricks, but lots of things have to be kept in mind. Some parts available on Mecabricks are not in LDD, while some bricks in LDD are not available on Mecabricks. Mecabricks have lots of decorations that aren't available in LDD. The way LDD keep information about where and how you place bricks is quite different as the way that Mecabricks does. So, to make it all short, it's not quite easy to put out an export LDD tool at this time; but if there are enough requests a minimal version may be implemented. 😉

Thank you

Adding to the list of requests; thank you!

Since Mecabricks is already far ahead of LDD, I personally don't think it makes sense to waste resources by doing a LDD exporter, since this would mean backporting. Resources would be better invested in developing Mecabricks further. Just my 0,02$.

@wlange 👍

Well, if Mecabricks allows to generate build steps from the model, exporting to LDD or even LDraw is not necessary. Until then, having to dismantle the model piece by piece in order to reverse-engineer it is really painful

Personally, I just want a Mecabricks to LDD just so that I can transfer my builds to Stud.io 2.0, which is my main building platform.

I would love to export to LDD or LDraw so i can continue my work in other programs. Making instructions is just one of the possible usages. W need LDD format to import build to bricklink so we can order parts easily.

You can also get a Bricklink part list just from Mecabricks. I don't think that we would make it possible to export to LDD/LDraw.

@Sim, how do you get this list?

Open a model that is public, there's a tab "inventory" under the 3d view where you can download the bricklink xml.

Sim, I'm sorry, can you help me, I can't find the inventory tab!

Hi, look here for more instructions: https://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/401#post4528

For example: https://mecabricks.com/en/models/N02gV8yMaLD
Right under the 3d model, you can see a tab inventory. There's a download link.

lol found it

It has been two years since the last post and no export to studio or ldd

I think it would be fantastic if you could add maybe an export to studio because mecabricks can be accessed anywhere so you can export to studio to make instructions

I agree. I wanted to start using Mecabricks at work (don't tell my boss) because installing Studio is not an option. But after learning about the insufficient export options I probably won't use it for any serious projects.

In fact, there are a lot of softwares that can do the production of manuals. You don't have to use studio. I am currently using Maya to render the manuals.
