Rendering with older versions.
awk777888 a commencé cette discussion dans Model Export and Render

As of right now I'm can not install blender 2.7x, so I am stuck with version 2.69. Is there a way to get the same effect on rendering done in 2.69 to look the same as ones done in 2.7X?

Thanks awk777888! 😄

I'm not sure about rendering in 2.69, as I only started using blender at 2.74. One suggestion though: Have you tried using the zip version of blender (No install required)

Oh I did not know that there was a zip file... thanks I will try it! 😄

Download the Mecabricks script for Blender.
Just try to open the file and render something. It is likely that it will work.

Ok I might try that to! Thanks! 😄

Good new the render worked and it looks great, but it took more than 5 hours to render. Is there a way to speed it up?

It depends on the size of your image, your computer and what you try to achieve. So basically there aren't any definite answers.

Just a couple of clues to start:
If you don't want the round edges, you can deactivate OSL and switch to GPU if your computer allows it. You can also reduce the number of samples. It directly impacts the time. Divide it by 2 and it will take half the time. However it will get more and more noisy.

Ok I will do that. Also I can't import a .dae file to blender is there a way I can export the model as a .dae, but then pack it into a .obj?

I am pretty sure it shall work... Most of us are using Blender with Collada here.
You can export directly in OBJ format from Mecabricks but browser might crash if you tick the box for Logo and the model is too big.

I am using blender 2.69 which dose not support Collada.

I am pretty sure that Blender 2.6x had Collada exporter/importer included. Anyway you might have a build that doesn't come from the official website.

I changed the samples and it looks a lot better, no need your Collada, Not yet any way...

I just got Blender 2.76, but I still don't see Collada?

I've used 2.76, go to import and select .dae

It is the default importer and is for sure present in 2.76.
File > Import > Collada

Did you get Blender from here?

No I did not get it from there.

Getting it from the official website is probably better unless you need a special build that includes custom modules.

I can't get it form the official website.

What do you mean? Just choose your system and download. What is not working?

I use a different OS that dose not let me download software from the internet. The OS has a "AppCenter" where I download software.

What is this OS out of interest?
