A Challenge Idea for the Users of Mecabricks
UmbraManis a commencé cette discussion dans Official LEGO® Sets and Parts

I had an idea for a fun challenge that would grow the size of the official sets database here on mecabricks. The idea is to spend a week and add as many perfect sets (All parts and decorations) from a certain year as possible. Not a competition between users, just a group effort to add as many sets as possible. Let me know if you like the idea!

Ideally I think a year from the 80s would be ideal, since new parts and stickers wouldn't be in the crazy territory they are for current years. And obviously duplo and (probably) fabuland would be excluded.

What's wrong with Duplo?! 😛

That might work, but the problem with the 80s sets is that they don't have building instructions available and in most of the cases not even an inventory. For me, it would be hard to build anyway.

Oh, and LEGO brought Trains out in 1980. I mean, 27 sets according to Brickset, that's all track parts. Back in the 80s they even had electricity, so some trains are powered to drive tours without pushing them. Awesome isn't it? 😛

I think most sets have an inventory on rebrickable or Bricklink, and instructions on swooshable, brickinstructions, peeron, and the like.

And, yeah I think trains would probably be excluded. (Unless someone wants to make a lot of track!) And it's mainly for fun, so getting everything done isn't a necessity. I'll wait for some other opinions.

I like the idea, but would definitely exclude all the brick collections, track parts etc. My problem would be choosing a year!

How about a theme, instead? (coughStarWarscough) 😃 LOL

I think we have almost enough interest now! (Somebody just drag criker in here, that guy has been churning out sets)

@Cynaptic Agreed!

@ngriffin7a Thinks of all the stickers Has Heart Attack 😛

As for years I think 1987 and 1990 look good. Any other suggestions?

Ooops, didn't think of that (stickers). 😛

Both look like great years.

1987 - The monorail!

1990 - Has my vote though. I'd love to do all the Castle sets - the big castle set even uses the same baseplate as the one I modeled for the Ice Planet base.
