Hello Mecabricks Community,
Today I'm proud to present to you my posable blender rig. Steps to use the rig as well as download links are available below. In addition, I have included a few default animation cycles to get you guys started.

Using Rig With Mecabricks Blender Template
Step 1
Set up your scene using the Mecabricks script the way outlined in the post - http://mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/72
(Make sure to include the Minifigure that you want in your model when exporting to make sure you download all the materials. We will later delete the unrigged Minifigure applying his materials to the rigged version)
Step 2
Now that you have the scene set up it’s time to append the rig into your scene
File > Append> Minifigure Rig> Object> Part4 +Armature> Append> S> Scale
Step 3
Head over to the materials tab and assign the correct materials corresponding with the unrigged Minifigure instead of the default material on the rig.
Step 4
Tab Into edit mode with the rigged Minifigure selected. Go into the vertex groups sections and select the part that needs materials to be adjusted.
Step 5
With all the vertices of an object selected navigate back to the material tab. Hit the + next to materials to add a new material below the main one. find the material the corresponds to the selected object. With the material, set hit Assign to apply the material to the vertices. Repeat step 4 and 5 until all the parts of the rig have the correct material assigned to them.
Step 6
There now should be one issue with the materials that have decorations. For this, we need to open the compositing panel to unwrap and position the UVs onto the decoration. Find the drop down and the top of the screen and change the window setup from default to Compositing. In the node window along the top open the material tab and select the material for the torso design lastly along the bottom open the decoration file.
Step 7
In the 3D view window tab into edit mode. Next, go to back to the vertex group window and select the vertices for the torso. Hit U and select unwrap to project the vertices onto the torso design. Align the front and back vertices to the design and scale the rest of the unused vertices into a small section of the background color. Repeat this process for the head and other decorations This set can be confusing so if you are unfamiliar with UV mapping I suggest you watch a video on how to UV unwrap in Blender.
Step 8
Change the window layout from compositing back to default. The last step is to attach weapons,hats,hair or anything you want the Minifigure to be wearing. In this case, I have a hair piece that I want to be attached to the rig. To do this align the object and scale so that it is in the position that you want it to be. For hair, this would be on the top of his head 😉. With the object selected hit, alt> p> Clear and keep transform. In pose mode select the bone that you want the object to move with (Head bone for hair). Next, select the object. Holding shift select the bone. The bone should be blue. Hit control> p> Bone. If you did this step correctly now when you move the head in pose mode the hair should move with the rig.
Step 9
That's it! You can remove the unrigged Minifigure now that we are done. Hit S to scale the Minifigure to the scene and pose him as desired.

Technically, they aren't messed up in terms of a program, in terms of using them in a 3D program such as Blender, they are messed up. Using the method I showed you eliminated around 75%-90% of the errors. The rest isn't too hard to fix. The models are really top-notch compared to LDraw models, those ones are a mess. If you are just making a render or something, just add smooth shading to the object. If you removed doubles and triangles for the object, the shading will look a little off. Just keep that part in mind. 😉

Any suggestions for cloth settings that would look like an actual lego cape?
If you are going for a look/feel effect, those settings can be found in materials by using node groups. 😛
No I mean the movement not the material
Okay, maybe you can a little extra dampening effect to it? From what I recall offhand, there was a dampening property for cloth simulations.

Hey guys, I am new to modeling, rendering, and animating, so does anyone have suggestions for quick and easy minifigure limb animation movements? Also, how did you download the rigs? I haven't been able to find any that I was able to download. On this one, it took me to a site to download some other software.
