2417 Snap Point
Lttlcheeze a commencé cette discussion dans Bug Reporting

One of the end snap/pivot points on 2417 is not on center.

I'd upload a pic, but can't figure out how.

On a side note...
Why aren't there Snap/Pivot Points on each place a Stud would go (Male or Female) on Every Part??
So a 2x2 Brick would have 8x (4x on Top & 4x on Bottom).

2417 has been correct now. Thanks.

I tried it but it was really too crowed and unusable with a reference point for each stud and anti-stud.

I noticed a lot of the Beam & Connectors have a snap points on each feature, then others don't. I know you said (and I completely understand) how it is too crowded for each Stud to have it's own snap point, but personally I think it would be nice for more of the parts to have more snap points. (not every stud on every part, like base plates)

For example all of the following parts only have One Snap Point:
32291, 32184 - It would be much easier to have a Snap Point in the other holes to make inserting pins easier, especially with 32291 since the holes aren't an easy movement on the Medium Grid.

3036, 60032 - Not as big of a deal, but it would be nice to have a Snap Point at the top, just like the other Bricks.

2819 - It would be nice to have a Snap Point at the Center Stud (just like 2741) for adding a Tile or similar, and not having to move it after adding it.

47755 - It would be nice to have Snap Points at the Top & Bottom of the "Plate Areas" on this part, similar to 50948, rather than just one Snap Point in the middle of the part.

Also the "Default" Snap Point and or Orientation doesn't make sense (to me) of some parts...

Default Snap Point:
For instance 64567 (Light Sword Base), I would think most of the time this is being used as a Minifig Weapon, so it would go in their hand. But when initially loaded or Duplicated, the Initial or Default Snap Point is at the End of the part. Wouldn't it make more sense to have it Default to the Snap Point at the middle of the handle, so it can be Snapped right into a Minifig Hand?

Orientation:
If you were to load a 1x10 Plate into the Workshop, then Load a 2x10 Plate On-Top, they will be inline, and not crossed. And if you Load a 3455 Bow or 18838 Bow your will also get them Inline. But if you load 85970, 18653, 30099, 61678 (Bows) or 30363, 4287 (Slopes) etc. they come in Crossed. I know I think the long axis of a part will import inline with the long axis of another part, not sure how others feel about it.

Also Orientation of Joints...
Most of the Joints once loaded and Snapped together (Male Snap Point Snapped into Female) they line up perfectly, inline and Horizontal.
2540 w/ 11476, 60478 w/ 63868, 4275 w/ 4276, 60471 w/ 44567 all Snap together Perfectly, but 44302 w/ 44301 Snap Together Over-Lapped. There may be others...

Like always Scrubs, I'm not trying to complain about anything, just trying to give some feedback, if changes are made great, if not I'm not going anywhere. I Love Mecabricks!!

Hello,

You are perfectly rights for most things in your post. Don't forget that it is a work in progress and all the pieces that you pointed have not been assessed yet. When Mecabricks started, it was a whole different world and snap points were not existing. When I introduced the system 1.5 year ago I had to start populating the data one piece by one piece, For 1000s of them! Old parts have an icon with a black background and semi old parts are white. In the New Parts section of mecabricks, you can see the new pieces added but in the background I am also updating/correcting the geometry and the data for hundreds of older pieces. I am getting there. Black icons are slowly disappearing and hopefully, one day, they will all be gone!

The default point is position 0,0,0 and rotation 0,0,0 - Basically the real piece origin. For now, I have the possibility to remove this default point if needed, however in that case there aren't anymore a default point and the one selected when you click the part is the first one in the list. Maybe at some stage, I'll add an option in the admin interface (+ modify the workshop code) to have the option to select which point is the default one.

I'm happy to hear there is work going on with the Older Parts. Thanks for that, should make things much easier. I noticed the "framed" image thumbnails (black background) in the Library, (for some reason my eyes tend to miss those parts, so they are harder for me to find) never knew why they were different.

As for the Orientation & Default Snap Point, I figured it something like that (Position & Rotation 0). I thought it might also be linked with how the parts were Drawn, to change the Orientation & Default Snap Point.

Cheers

Semi Related.

Just found the snap point on the 6120 Ski is out of position.

Cheers
