Building Controls

This is truly an awesome website!
Being able to build on a web-browser makes things so much easier!
However I'd like to see better building controls like that one in LDD.
Don't get me wrong. The tools you've added so far are amazing but building just takes much longer than in LDD.

Would it be possible to have the same brick "drag and drop" system like in the Digital Designer? Another idea could be that you can only place a brick if it's not intersecting with another one.

Thanks for your attention and don't hesitate to reply if you want.

I think the better option is to use ijkl or 8456 on the touchpad.

I/8 goes Up
K/5 down
J/4 left
L/6 Right

You can add U and O or 7 and 9 if you need more control.

Last modification I made before going on holidays:

Translation (value depends on grid size selected - small, medium or large):
NUMPAD 8: Z-
NUMPAD 2: Z+
NUMPAD 4: X-
NUMPAD 6: X+
PAGE UP: Y+
PAGE DOWN: Y-

Rotation (45° step):
UP: X-
DOWN: X+
LEFT: Y+
RIGHT: Y-
HOME: Z+
END: Z-

Absolutely perfect.
This is REAAAALLLLYYYY useful for me.
Thanks

Moving the parts with the keyboard is a real improvement
I just built the BEACH HUT (31035) in less than an hour

Now i Just need the 3D MOUSE implementation to improve my workflow even more

Next next 😉

31035 should be a matter of 15 minutes in LDD... Are you guys aware of LDD extended?
I bet you could also build very fast in mecabricks but all those controls are sadly too much for me 😕

I tested every LEGO CAD software
Some are good, like LDD, but I just don't like the interface.
SR3D was quite good also but unfortunately the developer died and there'll be no more updates.
I really like MECABRICKS because it works like BLENDER, which I use a lot.

The 31035 was the first official set I tried to build with it.
I took me one hour because I lost a lot of time finding the parts.

Could you add a drag and drop? It wouldn't take to much coding would it? Building in MB is really good, but I like using the mouse to control the bricks, and using the the arrows can be a little slow. The keyboard shortcuts work good but they can be a little slow too. I think if you just made it so you can drag a brick to a snap point, than it would make building much faster.

I use LDD and import it into the workshop sometimes (especially for precise hinge alignments). That way you have the drag and drop in LDD and the conveniences of Mecabricks. Sometimes pieces won't import being as they don't exist in Mecabricks, but I guess that's a risk you'd have to take. 😛

I always use LDD, and then edit it in MB. But I like the MB workshop style better.

I cannot build anything in LDD and it is one of the reasons I started Mecabricks 😃 Ideally I would prefer people to build directly in Mecabricks of course. When you import stuff from LDD, remember that some part 3D models can be a bit different and hinges that are aligned in LDD might not be in Mecabricks.

Aynway I plan to spend some time in the next few months on the workshop to clean the code, solve issues and add new functions.

@Azogthedefiler Drag and drop would require a lot of code. It is definitely a challenge.

Ok. I'll stick with importing importing for now. I do build in MB but just small models.

how to use "select pivot point" ?
i want the tutorial. using this feature, can i snap(fit) parts like LDD?

@cart No LDD snap system doesn't exist in Mecabricks (Design decision).
