@StepsiPepsi try re-importing it and this time don't change scale at all. Also, for the sake of ease, make sure you use the template that comes with the MB add-on.

Yes! The render worked, but the picture still isn't working!

Wait, a template? There's a template? How do you get it?

@ArmoredBricks
Nah, I'm not convinced; I tried several sample counts too and found that lower counts just produce jagged, too contrasted highlights and weird streaks because the denoiser washes out the details (especially reflections) too much. I'd personally stick to 900+ for finalized renders just for the sake of quality.

@NGCHunter2 I seem to get good renders with what ArmoredBricks does.

@StepsiPepsi your picture still didn't work because you forgot to add .png at the end of the URL. The template is in the zipped folder you downloaded along with the Mecabricks Lite Add-on.

@NGCHunter2 I'm not trying to convince you 😉 First of all, you certainly know more about rendering than me! What I mean is that yes, more samples will get you higher quality, but it's not always necessary to have incredibly high quality. Higher samples means slightly better renders, but it really depends on what you're willing to sacrifice time and money-wise to get them. Here is a comparison of a render with 100 samples then one with 500:

You can see the differences, but they're minor enough it's not going to be a big deal for most people. I mean, when it comes down to it, it pretty much depends on a few variables like your computer power, the importance of your lego project, the size of the images, and the timeframe you have to render. I suppose I tend to be a little impatient and need to use my computer quite a bit, and it's certainly not the most powerful of all laptops, so I tend to use lower sample counts and a standard 1920x1080 image resolution.

Hey Scrubs, this stuff is GREAT. Just found this site and have been using your Lite plug-in a bit. Love it.

When I camera match, I get a camera deep inside the model. I can pan back out, but the whole aspect ratio won't be quite right anymore, afaik.

What is your advice on how to use something like fSpy to camera match a real scene, given the fact that the imported models are 1000x bigger than real life?

I don't know, but the model is not 1000x bigger if you set the unit in Blender to mm.

My renders were working fine until recently, now the render button won't allow me to click on it. I'm not sure why. Any ideas?

@Ayalew, the render server is down and we will just wait until Scrubs restarts it.

Hah, setting the Blender base unit to mm was a pretty easy fix! Now everything lines up great when camera matching. Thanks!

Hey guys,

I'm having issues getting the add-on to work with blender and in mot sure whether I'm missing anything or not. Every time I try to select it for install it says that's its been installed but I cant find where it should be. Would it have saved under a different name in the preferences menu or is it just not being added to blender?

Many thanks in advance.

@ArmoredBricks Wow, that looks amazing. With the grilles on the engines, how did you make them glow?

@StepsiPepsi there is an area lamp positioned under the grill. 😉

To make sure, did you install the "mecabricks.zip" file located inside the "Blender Lite.zip" file? If you installed that file, the add-on should appear after installing, with a tickbox with which you can enable or disable the add-on; when enabling the add-on, an option for importing Mecabricks files should appear under File→Import, too.

@Sprinter_boi_156 also, just make sure you have the latest version of the MB Add-on. There was a release one or two back that had a bug preventing it from installing properly.

@NCGHunter2 I'm pretty sure I have installed the mecabricks file, I just can't seem to get it to install to blender.

@ArmouredBricks I'm sure I have got the latest version of the add-on however, when I try to press install on blender I get the dialogue box showing a traceback error. Is this the issue you spoke about?

@Sprinter_boi_156 that's the error I had with a previous release. If you're not sure, I'd download the latest one and try again.

An easy way to know if you have the latest version is to go to your Purchases page and see if it say "Update Available" left to the Download button.
