Drawing Unexisting Parts

Hi, in order to finish my set, I'd need those unexisting parts:

4506784- Shell 6X10X2 (45705)
4143186- 3D-Panel 5M-5 (32527)
4143185- 3D-Panel 5M-6 (3252😎
4540384- Roof Tile W. Lattice 1X2X2/3 (61409)
4153012- Side Skirts 1X4X1 W/Doubl/Snap (30647)
4547335- Wing 5,08 61800
4293087- Wing 8X10 ظ 4,85 (55706)
4638959- Func. Battery Box 4X8X4 AAA
6x6 Boat Base Inverted Sloped Brick (Unable to find it in the Brickset database!)

Questions:
-Can the administrator to add them to the database?
-Assuming that I draw them in Autocad (dwg file), can the administrator import them to three.js?

Hello,

I'm currently working on an admin panel to easily handle the part library - with multiple levels of right access. It's almost finished (probably this week) which will free up a bit of time to add new parts.

Regarding modeling, I guess that DWG is not the best format to import in Blender for final export but there is always a way to convert 3D formats. I wrote a post a while ago about making parts. Even if it was for Blender most of it applies for any CAD Software.

Hi, I've been trying to model the 6x6 Boat Base in order to finish my 'Predator One' but is too time consuming for my. By the moment I've got an aproximate draft (PROA.blend). If anybody wants to finish it, I can uploat the file.
I'd appreciate if you add any of the missing parts. My intention is to show my walking model in the Lego Ideas site as soon as I can make some renders with different color schemes.

If you know where to find this kind of tire, please give me the directions so that I can fine-tune some Tiny Turbos(TM) models I'm working on.

That way you request those parts to be added, and eventually - as this requires time - they will be added to the library of parts.

I added my first unexisting part (55976) to MECABRICKS library.
For me (new to 3D modeling) this was a fun and rewarding experience.
The help and feedback from MECABRICKS was great.

Things I learned along the way:

Follow MECABRICKS tutorial rules which can be found at
"Forum > General Discussion > How to model a new part".

I think Blender is a great tool, but for what I wanted to
model the learning curve was too steep. So I am just using
Blender to add "normals", "smoothing" and "Edge Split modifier"
to my model. Blender is also great at exporting to .json
format with the "Three.js" addon.

I have some DIY tools to create my model in Wavefront(.obj)
format. These DIY tools add no "Normals" information, just
vertices and faces.

Open Blender (v2.69):
Delete cube (press <x> then press <d>)
File => Import => Wavefront (.obj)
select my .obj file
NOTE: you should now be in "Object Mode" by default.
Switch to "Edit Mode" (press <Tab>)
Open Transform menu (press <n>)
Transform => Shading
Turn on "Backface Culling" (check the box)
I now see many inverted (invisible surface) faces.
Mesh Tools
Normals:
Recalculate
NOTE: if all inverted faces (outside and inside faces) are not gone,
it maybe that your model does not have seperate outside and inside
faces.
Get back into "Object Mode" (press <Tab>)
Object Tools
Shading:
click on Smooth
Open Modifier menu (right side of screen, icon looks like a wrench)
Add Modifier => Edge Split
Export and save file:
File => Export => Three.js (.json)
NOTE: below option can be found on the lastest version of Three.js
Export THREE
GEOMETRY:
Vertices
Faces
Normals
SETTINGS:
Enable Precision
Precision: 3
Now rename untitled.json to your filename and save it.

I hope this may help others.

Hello,

There is a user interface to add parts, however I'm not willing to leave it freely accessible to everyone in order to keep a certain standard. I only grand this permission when I'm confident about a user.

You can still send me parts for review, and when they are all good, I have no problem to add them in the library 😉

Yeah, thx for clarification! I already have sent you email about decoration creation guide, so i can help community with torso and legs recreation.
If you gave me some links with tutorial and template(or mapping for decal part) it would be so good. Want to try it, who knows, mb i can be usefull for community! 😃

I tried to make a missing part but I realy have problems getting the right measurements. Which ruler tool are you using in blender? A special add on?

Hello,

I'm not really using any measurement tools in Blender. I just enter my measurements from the part directly in the transform fields. Which part are you trying to make? I might be able to give you some directions.

hmm... I just tried for 1h, I will pick one of the easier parts I need for the set I build and try again. First I will go in building the set until I need a missing part 😉
