I was excited to get the Simpsons Lego House a few weekends ago. Now that it's built, I want to build it on mecabricks. There shouldn't be too many parts, besides minifigs and accessories, to model.
Scrubs,
What do you need from me in order to model the minifigs and accesories, as far as pictures and the like? How do you model the oddly shaped accessories like Marge's hair. I have looked into some 3D scanning programs for ios, some of which look promising. Would that be enough for you to model the new stuff?
This question also goes for the several of the other sets that I have and want to build on here. The only thing stopping me is missing parts, minifigs, and parts with stickers/prints.
Organic parts like hair are the hardest to make. If I don't have the original, it's pretty much impossible unless it does exists in LDD which can be used as a starting point. I was thinking at some stage at 3D scanning but I haven't been too far. It could actually work to get something decent. It depends on the accuracy you can get. The mesh will have to be cleaned anyway after and probably simplified to get a lightweight part.
For decorated part, I can provide the UV map and the colour table. Otherwise I need good resolution photos to vectorise them with illustrator.
Example of the Torso for a ghostbusters minifig:
However for the simpson minifigs, I can use minifiguniverse to get the decoarted parts.
Very nice! I didn't realize all you needed to do was vectorize an image. I actually did quite a lot of that while working with the Gerber Stenciling program to create patches for aircraft in the Air Force. It can be time consuming if you don't dial it in just right.
So as far as the Simpson's minifigs, you have those covered? Where shall I send the pictures of minifigs to?
As far as the organic parts, I guess I can mess with them and see how well they scan, clean them up, and see if they are usable.
Thanks!
Simpson decoration for arms, torso and legs shall be fine. They are pretty simple.
