Decoration textures for official and custom parts

A new part system is currently being implemented in Mecabricks and the public section of the specification related to decoration is being described below.

The previous revision presented in this thread is now obsolete and shall not be used anymore unless you are a decoration admin in which case both versions shall be uploaded during the transition period.

Color Textures

This texture type is compulsory. It shall only include the printed areas as well as the stickers. The background shall be fully transparent as the base material(s) (e.g. solid, speckle, metal, etc.) can be set independently in the workshop using the material selector.

The transparent areas of stickers printed on a transparent base is ignored on this texture.

Only colour values from the Mecabricks colour chart shall be used for a full support on all Mecabricks applications.

Data Textures

This texture is required for stickers or if the printed areas include metal inks.

This is a non-colour image texture. Data contained in the 3 channels is:

Red: Metal ink for printed areas or for stickers (Materials 334, 335, 336, 337, 344 and 345)
Green: Chrome ink for stickers
Blue: Sticker shape

File size optimisation

Color and Data textures can be optimised in order to reduce the file size. You shall save your textures as PNG-8 (8bits per pixel - 256 colours). It will often divide the size by two.

Some software like Affinity Designer struggle with PNG-8 and transparency so make sure that your software handles this format properly first.

Tinypng does a very good job.

sorry i just found out how. thanks anyway

Hi Scrubs, I noticed the part 14769d115 with clock pattern is in Light Bluish Gray, but should be in Reddish Brown 😉

@Operator011 i have the same problem as you brother

@Operator011

There is not Digi-Zane Minifigure. Mecabricks doesn't add parts that don't exist. Beyond that the "official design" you mentioned is a rendering on a trading card. Even if Mecabricks DID allow custom parts, how would you suggest getting a full figure design from a trading card? Please stop spamming random unrelated threads. Especially resource threads.

How do I do this? I would like to be able to do this feature for something I'm making for lego ideas. Please answer as soon as possible.

if you need help go the the parts section go on the 1 by 1 brick press custom and but the name of the thing you wanna edit

Brick.cucumber: I apologize. I get it, you're mad. I made that post when I was just learning about forums. I wasn't sure what this thread was for, exactly. I was asking a question though, where's the harm in that? Even if I did use the wrong forum?

I still don't understand. Please answer. Thanks for trying to help Persona.

wait lemme ink the place to make custom bricks if that does not work i can use screen shots https://www.mecabricks.com/en/partmanager tell if you need ore help since your new i help new players but i am still kinds new like you but i can teach you

Where do you go then after you go to the library and what do you do Persona. I now where to go when you told me earlier I don't know what the reference is or the names or the configguration is and how to create it. Thanks.

@Operator011

It's called spam, that's what the problem is. Deliberately spamming unrelated posts with a (unreasonable) part request after being told to post in the "Missing Parts" thread is a problem. It clutters the forum and makes information harder to find for people working on parts and for people who are trying ro learn.

Also " Even if I did use the wrong forum?" doesn't really apply as a rhetorical when you acutally did use the wrong forum and did so deliberately.

saga field when you go to the library if you want to submit you moc just double click on the moc and press go public and aslo if you want to look at peoples mocs just go to the library on the top

and if you wanna make a custom brick type the bricks name and chose the file you want to use

Thanks.

Brick.cucumber: I'm sorry. I didn't do it deliberately. I was not sure exactly what this forum was for. Please don't argue with me, as I was not deliberately spamming, as you claim. I wasn't trying to be rhetoric, sorry if I offended you.

I'm not sure if I'm using the right words here, but how do you import a decoration?

I'm trying to make a custom design for a helmet (#28631) and when I type the part number into the custom part dialog box, it just shows a little "x". Anyone know why it's doing this? I've tried importing over to blender with the MB extension as well and doing it there but I can't put a texture on the blank model and the pre textured ones have a weird finish that I can't get rid of since I don't know blender very well.

@Becker15, unfortunately, you cannot yet add your own custom textures to helmets in Mecabricks.
How exactly have you tried adding the textures in Blender? I have, in the past, added textures to helmets in Blender and it worked quite well.

Is it in the workshop, library, parts, shops or forum where you create your image texture because I do nor see a "texture" section anywhere.
