Tail lights in Blender?
fictitiouspasta started this discussion in Model Export and Render

Hi,

I was wanting to render a new build with some glowing tail lights in Blender. I loaded up the Mecabricks file, then my own HDRI. I then put a simple point lamp at the end of the trans-red piece, and pointed it where it should go. But when I preview the render, it just simply doesn't work. Is this an issue with the Mecabricks addon, or is there a setting I am missing? Thanks!

Hello. This is how you set your lights.
Point lights do not have any orientation. Light is emitted equally in all directions. Therefore rotating it doesn't change anything.
Make sure that you increase the strength value significantly. Maybe around 50000.
Also make sure that the point light is not under a solid stud if you put it behind a transparent part.

Another solution is to make the transparent part glowing. You can unplug the volume absorption link of the node and replace it by an emission shader.

Many Thanks @Scrubs!
