Updated to 3.0.5. It fixes the bug with decorated elements.
Add-on for Blender 2.79 has been updated as well to support new Vibrant Coral colour.
YAY! Thank you so much!
@Scrubs Thanks! 😃
I've noticed there is another bug. It began after I upgraded my Blender 2.80 beta in early June. My previous beta I downloaded in early May. I'm not completely sure it's the June beta that is the culprit because I deleted the May beta. But I'm pretty confident it's because of the upgrade.
I use EEVEE in the viewport to see where the stickers are facing. But since the new beta, all the parts that have stickers/decorations (are stickers and decorations the same thing?) just turn grey. If I try to render in EEVEE, the parts are grey too. However, the actual Cycles render works just as it should.
I know I can turn on Cycles in the viewport, but it's kind of a hassle as it can be slow.
Is this bug caused by Mecabricks add-on or Blender 2.80 beta?
I do not currently support eevee, especially for decorated elements. The shader is too complex to be compiled on most user configurations.
A usable setup for eevee would require to rethink and redesign completely the add-on. Eevee is still young and is lacking a lot of features at this stage.
Am I missing something? is there a step by step tutorial on how to use this plugin correctly? I have it installed and have done a render which comes out all pink, I know I've missed steps here (like assigning the HDRI image) but can't find how to do it.
Is there a search function on these forums?
Just select a HDRI file in the corresponding node - Pink in Blender means that a file is missing. This is not a Mecabricks add-on issue. There are plenty of tutorials about lighting in Blender.
Thanks, I ended up finding it after I posted that, I'm a professionally 3d artist but this is my first time with blender.
Getting some good results for, I may just purchase the advanced plugin
No worries. I never really know the skills and knowledge of the people on the other side 😉
Looking forward to seeing some images.
Will you add the ability to have the high resolution packs for the lite add-on?
No. This is for the Advanced add-on only.
ok, thanks for answering!
hi, could anybody please help me to install the blender lite add-on?, i've tried it many times but the option for "mecabricks.zmbx" never appears on the import window, i'm using blender 2.8 on windows 10 pro
Works like a charm, but prints (i.e. Minifig Faces) don't show up. How do I fix this?
See my answer above. If you use eevee, decoration shader is too complex and won't compile. If you use Cycles make sure that you are in render mode.
Scrubs, the stickers aren't even showing up in 'Solid' mode. Even though they used to a few months ago (with an earlier 2.80 Beta).
@sna9 Textures do not show up in solid mode. The only mode that displays everything is the render mode with Cycles. The decoration material is too complex for Look Dev and Eevee.
Hmm, yes I think I remembered it incorrectly then. In 2.80 it never was possible to see the textures in solid mode. But it definitely was possible to see them in LookDev/Eevee with the 2.80 beta I downloaded in early May. Unfortunately I deleted the May beta.
Anyway, I DO remember that I could see the textures back when I used 2.79. I just changed the viewport shading from 'Solid' to 'Textures'. It's basically solid mode but the textures showed up as well.
I've noticed there is a 'Texture' option in 2.80 solid mode as well, but it doesn't do the trick.
Hello! I have recently downloaded blender 2.8 and I have also downloaded the free add on. However, I downloaded the add on BEFORE I downloaded blender 2.8 and now as I look into the blender software, I don't see the add on in the import. Is there a way I can fix this?
Just re-download/re-install it. Make sure that you use the version for Blender 2.80
how do I put a minifig in a scene
