Getting More From Older Pages

I recently came across an older website with several pages that had accumulated years of useful information but were no longer performing as well as they once did. Some of those pages already had references from other websites, which made completely replacing them seem unnecessary. It got me thinking about whether improving an established page can sometimes be more valuable than starting a new one from scratch. When does it make sense to strengthen an existing page rather than create a completely new resource? I’m especially curious about situations where the original page already has some history and external recognition.
