Snapping Door in Frame
oatiie started this discussion in Help and Tips

Hi! I'm super new to this site and I love it. One problem I'm running into though is struggling with putting doors/windows into frames. When I snap it, it sticks out on either side, and it doesn't seem there's a way to to it perfectly. Any tips?

Oatiie-

Most doors and window frames have multiple snap points. I would recommend that you place your frame where you want it, select the door or window part and then use the Snap (S) tool (magnet icon, second from the top on the left hand toolbar).

To use the Snap tool, it is a 3-part process:

  1. Select the part you wish to move... most parts have multiple snap points. For doors and windows, use the default snap point.
  2. Select the Snap tool.
  3. Select the snap point on the part you are snapping to. In your case, choose the point on the frame that corresponds to your door or window default snap point.

A simpler method if you don't already have the door or window in the workspace yet is to:

  1. Place the frame.
  2. Click on the snap point you want to use (the movement gizmo should shift over to this point)
  3. Add your door or window... it should automatically snap to your chosen point.

Thank you so much!! This was lots of help 😄
