Blender Lite Not Popping Up In Blender
Ghostlii started this discussion in Help and Tips

Hi, I'm pretty new to Mecabricks and am getting into LEGO animation. Unfortunately, when I downloaded the Blender Lite plugin, I installed it to Blender and refreshed my list, but it didn't show up. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can also press Import button but it doesn't show the Mecabricks option.

I kinda have the same problem, except when I tried to download blender, it said I don't have an app that supports blender, and it's really frustrating because I just realized that blender lite is free, and I really wanna make a blender render....

Same problem here too. I have downloaded it and tried to install it through the addon section in Preferences but it will not show up to be saved to Preferences at all. If I search for it, it does not exist!!!?????

Guys, I think I found it! When you download the "Blender lite" zip file, extract it into a folder. Inside there is a mecabricks lite zip file. Install that into Blender and you can use the import option!

I don't exactly understand.. 😦

No Problem:

  1. Download the BlenderLite.zip from this web site
  2. Go and find that zip file on your computer
  3. Put the BlenderLite.zip file into a new folder on your Desktop (It does not matter what the folder is called)
  4. Open this new folder with the BlenderLite.zip file in it
  5. Right click on the BlenderLite.zip file and choose "Extract here"
  6. You should now see a file called "mecabricks lite"
  7. Go into Blender and go to Edit > Preferences > Addons > Install
  8. Go to the file that you have in the new folder, the "mecabricks lite" file and click on it
  9. This will install it into Blender
  10. Click the SAVE PREFERENCES option
    Thats it

You can now import the .zmbx files

The texture do work in Render too!!!!

Where is the edit button❓I can't find it.. :<

if you still happen to not find the edit button, its in the top left corner.

Oh, no. I figured out my prob (I probably should have stated that earlier..)

I need help also. I am on MacBook Air, not Windows. I followed 3DMonkeyBizz's instructions and steps, but up until step 5. There is no extract here button when I right click. I'm trying to make a Lego animation for my YouTube channel, but this is keeping me from it. Thank you.

Does it need to be zipped or unzipped? Because the file that I think I need is mecabricks lite.zip already. It's already zipped. What do I need to do next?

If you unzipped the BlenderLite.zip file, then the next step is Step 6. Blender will be using the mecabricks lite.zip file as a zip file.

That still didn't answer my question. (Sorry) Should the files/folder be zipped or unzipped?

Blender will be using the mecabricks lite.zip file as a zip file. It needs to stay zipped. The outer file (blenderlite.zip) should be unzipped, the inner file (mecabricks lite.zip) should remain zipped. There is a PDF in there that should help too.

Probably a better step 6 would say "You should now see a file called 'mecabricks lite.zip'." But the problem is that Windows default is to hide filenames, so many people may never see the .zip extension.

It's weird, I have no extract here button when I right click the blender lite.zip file, there is no extract here button. What do I do with that?

"Extract here" is windows speak for "unzip this zip file into a new folder and place that folder here". The link I sent you is for how to unzip on mac. Use that and you will be fine. If you have unzipped the blenderlite.zip file then you have completed step 5. If you have seen the mecabricks lite.zip file then you have completed step 6. The important part is that you can navigate to the mecabricks lite.zip file in finder without going into another zip file first. Now just go to blender and do step 7.

Ok, so when I go to Edit < Preferences < Add ons < Downloads, I click the file that the Mecabricks lite is on. Then, I choose the Mecabricks lite file that is in the new folder on my desktop. When I open the Mecabricks lite file, it has 2 things in it. 1) init.py 2) another file called loaders. Which one do I choose to download as an add on in blender? Because when I just try and download the whole Mecabricks lite file it won't let me. It says I have to choose one file inside the mecabricks lite folder? Which one?

Actually, I just got it! Thank you!

Wait, one last thing. When I export the building that I want from the mecabricks.com workshop, and I press File > Export > and then I choose .zmbx file. Then it downloads, and when I try and open it, it says, "Safari and Finder cannot open a .zmbx file. So what do I do then?

Wait, never mind again. I figured that out, too!
