Workshop -> Part view -> dropdown menu navigation
NellyFlo started this discussion in Suggestions and Ideas

currently when ever opening the dropdown menu containing all categories of parts, the currently selected category is on the bottom an only highlighted as long as the mouse is outside the dropdown menu. Because of this it is very hard to find out where the category is as soon as you start scrolling thou the list. And because it is always shows at the bottom, you need to scroll to see any category below the currently selected one.
When searching for a part that fits some criteria, these things make it super difficult to go thou all categories that might contain useful parts, because its hard to do it in order.

I would suggest showing the category at the top (or in the middle if you can figure that out) and highlighting the currently selected category with an additional underscore or something similar, that does not disappear when hovering over another category

I don't really understand. The select list is a native browser element.

NellyFlo-

I'm not here to discount your suggestions, but in the mean time, your brick category is still active in the grey box below the select list. So even if you hover over another category, you can still see where you were. I know this is not exactly what you're looking for, but it can help you work around the issue of losing the current category.

Scrubs-

I think NellyFlo is asking for something that will mark where you're browsing within the select list. Maybe something like a different style on select>option:checked would work. I mocked it up in chrome. Of course, I know you've got a lot on your plate and I'm not the one who has to worry about testing things and not breaking the website. I just get to chuck spears in from the sidelines.

Unless it is critical I probably won't touch this version of the workshop. That is a native element so I generally would not touch it much. On MacOS chrome there is a tick next to the selected item.

Yeah thats what I ment, but i understand that you don't want to change a native element. I just noticed that it annoyed me quite often

I started only navigating using the arrow keys, wich also helps
