It's possible another company has the licence to those products, so like lego can't do Pokemon because someone else (in the building block companies) has already taken the IP.

Well... TLG and Playmobil had a license to do Ghostbusters and even made the Firehouse in the same year...

Well I know for sure that no one else currently owns the rights to this IP other than the actual company who first created it -- i.e., there is no problem for lego to originally create sets off it, as no other company has ever made construction-building-block toys related to the IP. I emailed them last night. If they don't respond, then I'll just call the Ideas team and see if they can figure it out on the spot (or prompt them to respond to my email).
