How to copy paste?

i'm currently making a set with multiple places that are the same, how can i copy 1 part i made and just paste it for the other places, cause when ever i press command c, it jus takes me to a new tab with a white background

Press D to duplicate the parts. An identical copy of everything you have selected will be created.
