Rotating bricks around their origins

I am making an animation where I need to rotate a brick around a point that isn't its center. I changed the origin of the object to the point that I want it to rotate around, but in the animation it still rotates around its center. Just to test, I tried rotating it manually using the Move tab, and it rotated around the new origin. Can objects only rotate around their centers in animations, or am I doing something wrong?

The animation system is using real origins of 3D objects. Points are only virtual objects which purpose is to build faster.
To achieve what you are trying to do, you shall use an empty and parent your object to this empty. Open this model in the workshop:
