Modify display of LEGO colors

While building models the color palette in the workshop works okay.
But compared to my personal perception of LEGO colors they don't quite match (mostly I find them to be too saturated, some of them not in the right luminance). I always have to go the long way with Photoshop to change colors of the renders (and since I have to alter different colors differently masking can become a long process).
I don't want to suggest that you change the color rendition that all users are used to.
But could you imagine a way a user could alter them to personal taste? Different ideas:

  • have a personal settings page with RGB values for LEGO colors which override mecabricks default colors. Two checkboxes [ ] use in workshop [ ] use for rendering
  • same as above, but even two RGB values, one for workshop color override, one for rendering (no more checkboxes needed)
  • if this is not possible/wanted, another enhancement would help me: export rendering with mask channels (maybe as PSD). One mask for each color. So I could easily tweak the color rendition in Photoshop with perfect masks 😃 I could imagine you could get those masks without the render engine by using the viewport?

A possible workaround for rendering:

  • export to Blender and edit the materials. Well, it seems I have to learn Blender first 😉 I found the material editor but found out, that not all pieces of the same color share the same material in Blender. So I would have to tweak colors in many many materials. Is there a way to alter a specific color just once? Or is there a way to reduce the number of exported materials for similar pieces?
