Selection/tablet issues
SecretLemonadeDrinker started this discussion in Bug Reporting

I’ve just started using Mecabricks on a small project. I use and iPad Pro 12.8 and Mecabricks totally outclasses any dedicated app I’m aware of. I think you’ve got a real niche amongst tablet users. Here are a few issues I’ve come across whilst using it which would greatly increase usability if solved. It’s mostly around the area of selecting objects. As I’m new these may be due to my inexperience rather than bugs.
These problems appear present in both safari and chrome.

scrolling the side windows doesn’t work properly. You can’t move the slider, you can only tap the gap underneath/above the slider. So difficult to select the right group.

Select by area doesn’t appear to work (just selects all)

Very difficult to select an object in the main window with an Apple Pencil as its so sensitive to movement (have to use finger instead)

(Suggestion) if the above aren’t fixable some shortcut to multiple selection would be massively appreciated (I don’t usually use a keyboard). Due to the above issues I use it a lot.

Apologies if these are known issues. I haven’t actually found a way of being able to search the forum other than through google.

Making everything working on touch screens is a pretty complicated task. It is basically doing the work twice et even sometimes it is not possible without rethinking the whole workflow. I try to support it as much as I can but there are always a few things that cannot be done.

  • Scroll on the graph panel is buggy on touch screen - Probably due to the drag&drop API that is not supported by touch device.
  • Select area not supported yet
  • I cannot really do much for pencils. Selection is based on the fact that the pointer is located at the same place at the start and finish of the touch event. Otherwise another action is triggered (which depends on what is under the pointer/finger/pencil). Changing the code to account for small variation would make it less usable for the primary targets which are desktop/laptop computers.

That said, support is always improving so some of these problems may be fixed in the future.

I Appreciate touch screens are very different .. thanks for the response
