Utilising Data Textures or extra layers to make decorations customisable?

I'll admit that this is probably impractical, but I had the idea when looking at the Photoshop documents for the parts that I've submitted. Seeing as all the layers are all isolated, would it be possible to use data textures or a layering system to make the colours of a decoration customisable? Just an idea, hope something could come of it. (Although I guess uploading the layers individually in the Drop Box could work as well)

No, that is technically not feasible. Common image formats do not use a layer system and even if I created something custom, it would not be usable anywhere else. I actually struggle to see the benefit as well.
