If you mean to save your build in the workshop just use the File menu and Save. Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean by saving parts?

Ok... maybe I put it wrong. From what I've gathered, which could likely be wrong, you have to somehow "save" parts in order to customize them. I could be wrong... maybe I miss understood something.
