Hi, I am trying to learn animation nodes. I have managed basic rotations and location but now have hit an issue where I need rotational movement to drive a technics bar and I'm not sure how to track the bar to the position of the rotating pin. Do I place the bar inside the axes and modify it somehow or do I give the bar it's own empty and move that in a way where it looks like it is driven by the rotation of the pin?

Here's my model - you can see the green pins rotating but how do I get the bar to move left/right while aligning to that pin?

Not many people getting into the animation nodes then? Well I've made it to the next step where I can drive a beam from a circular rotation but only from the centre of the beam (and I need an offset). I think I need the trigonometry for tracking the circumference of an oval if I want to use anything but the central hole of a beam.

Here's the working model - full explanation in the model description:

Turns out I overthought it - regardless of which hole in the beam you are using the motion is still circular so I just added an offset after the x and why co-ordinates were calculated to "move" it across. Works a treat. I did learn how to animate ellipses in the process too so that's not all bad!

Check the "Look At" node with Global Transform input/output. It allows to point at an object and sometimes, it can be quicker than doing the calculation manually. Constraints is what shall be used, but this is another topic.
