Toon Shader
joshenders started this discussion in Suggestions and Ideas

Hi everybody, new patreon here. Really looking forward to diving in to the community and participating in modeling new bricks, particularly for pirates, islanders, aquanauts, and ice planet series.

Are there any plans to or willingness to collaborate on a toon shader, as seen in the instruction booklets in the 90s?

Here’s an example of beautifully vectorized toon shaded models with boundary highlighting. I’d like to recreate something identical: https://www.lego.com/biassets/bi/4101158.pdf

I’m a software engineer with plenty of 3D experience. Would be happy to collaborate if this is of interest.

Thanks!

Hello jenders and welcome. It almost looks like it is a flat shading with very subtle variations, except for black where it is super obvious.
If you are keen to model parts, do not hesitate to contact me first. Part modeling isn't only the geometry as it shall also include multiple uv layers for normal baking, details bump maps, decorations etc.
