This isn't really a bug so I figured the "help" area was the best place to post this. I am setting up a scene with well over 3k parts (probably 4-5K by the time it is finished) and a number of lights. I can certainly do my fair share to optimize the model but in the end, render times will be render times. However, when I enter the renderer, the preview automatically tries to calc light paths for shadows. There are too many lights and parts for it to do so (I know because a popup saying as much appears at the top of the window) but it doesn't appear to try to stop calculating. The page freezes and chrome eventually tells me that the page isn't responding and I should just close the tab. I have tried multiple times and the page crashes the same way each time.
Is there any way to turn off (or at least turn down) the render preview settings so that attempts to calculate shadows are not initiated in the first place?
Thank you,
Finn
Hello,
It shall not try to attempt the calculation If the pop up comes, I will look into that.
Hide the lamps and then you can make sure that in the lighting panel of the render mode you untick the checkbox for lights in the viewport. (You can do the same to deactivate shadows and lights in the design mode -> top bar -> option panel)
Thank you for the tip! It worked perfectly.
