Hi,
I could need some help or tips concerning two questions: When I´m importing a set to blender each part sharing the same shader. How can I disconnect a shader from several parts to make this shader unique? I always thought hiting the number in the node would make a single user copy but somehow it doesn´t work. I can import another shader and link it to the desired pieces I just wonder if there is an easier solution.
The second questions is about the bevel node of the advanced shader. This node is very beautyfull and important. Is there a way to amplify the node? What I´m looking for to make the highlights stronger on the edges. I played with the value inputs of the shader but the edges get only smoother not stronger. Hope I could clearly state my questions due my childish english skills.
Thank you very much and have a nice day, cheerz gt
When you make a shader unique, it doesn’t make a deep copy meaning that only the top level is duplicated. Node groups inside are not made unique. You need to make your way down and make each node group you want to modify unique by clicking the button indicating the number of users like you mentioned.
You can only change the radius of the bevel node (other input is not so relevant). The default value is 0.35mm. However I don’t believe that it is what you are after. You shall play with lighting to find a set up where the light will catch the edges.
Hi scrubs, thx for fast response and tips. I wanted to avoid adding an "Edge Light" because it can add unwanted light into the scene. To make a light affect only the edges especially in animation is tough. For now I render an additional Edge light Layer. I shade the minfig to black make an edge highlight light and mulpitly it in the compositor. It produces the desired result but more work to be done. Hopefully I will find an easier solution. Maybe an edge mask or something like this.
Thank you very much, have a great day and cheerz gt
