How to Use Custom Decorations in Mecabricks Workshop
Armon_Russ started this discussion in Parts and Decorations Design

Ok, first off the Mecabricks Custom Decoration Editor is amazing. I haven't had any issues with it and the UV maps are soooo helpful. Top-notch work, Scrubs! But now that I've created and saved a custom minifigure head decoration . . . how do I get it into the Mecabricks workshop? I see there's a "Custom Parts" folder in the Mecabricks inventory, but when I select it there's nothing inside. Is there a wait time or have I missed a step?

No, they appear straight after.
Did you make sure that you didn't put it in a hidden directory?

Hahaha I'm really dumb. Yeah, not sure why I hid the directory. Thanks!

By the way, is the new dress mold available to customize?

I put "36036" in the "Configuration" field but nothing appears and it gives me a red X.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just not available?

Please only use one post instead of spamming the forum. You can edit your post if required.
Only parts that have been converted to new system can be decorated. 36036 is not yet.

Hello whenever i try to make a custom texture for a piece it says insufficient storage space even though i deleted all my pieces

@DereLODJNCRqli43w, you need to also delete your textures, not only the parts.

good afternoon
Sorry for my ignorance, they could explain step by step how to make your own personalized decorations.

Thank you for your help and understanding

How to I use the new decorations? I still can't seen to figure it out. Thanks!

@Bricks_Of_Tomorrow, what is your problem? To create the decoration, upload it to a part, or find it in the workshop?

Mostly to create the decoration. I also don't know how to upload it to a part. I'm fairly new to this new setup for this, so anything will help. Thanks!

To make the decoration you'll need some sort of graphics software like Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator. Adjust the decoration to the UV-map for the part you want to add your decoration to. Here's a guide Scrubs made to show his workflow in Illustrator, https://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/268.
The Important steps for custom decoration is Step 7 to adjust the decoration to the UV-map. You can also see my workflow using Inkscape here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t46QwhQbJQ

Skip step 10 and instead add the decoration as shown in this video by Scrubs, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzOnoN9Iv-w

How do you get already decorated pieces like road baseplates?

Find the part you want in the workshop, then click on the '+' icon in the top right corner. From there you will be able to select the decoration you want.

Hey Scrubs, since we can't add new parts, could you allow us to?

How do we apply custom textures to minifigures?
