Don't know if I'm missing something but when I use the import function and chose an LDR file I've exported from LDD, nothing is actually imported into my model. I'm looking to get the EV3 Motor (which LDD has) into my Mecabricks project but this way doesn't seem to work?

Do you know that you can also import directly LDD files?
LDD and LDraw files do not include any 3D data, just metadata so if the part doesn't exist in Mecabricks yet, it can not be imported. You can open the console of your browser to see which parts could not be imported.
