How to create rendered 3D models for Sketchfab?

Does anyone in here have experience with exporting MOCs to Sketchfab?

I'm pretty excited about how well LEGO spaceship MOCs render via Mecabrick render farm/blender, because the POV-ray renderings looked awful back in the naughts (unless you spend more time playing round with POV-ray settings than building with LEGO).

An old dream of mine is to upload rendered 3D models to Sketchfab, so I can include them on my webpage via plugin and annotations.
Today I tried to export an old MOC via collada file to Sketchfab, but the result looks more like an old LDView file: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/17-discnose-b02e4654677a4d5d9fcae16cf7ce47bf

So the file clearly needs to go through Blender with Scrubs awesome Blender Advanced package.

However, I'm unsure of the work process from there:
Apparently, you can import blender files to Sketchfab, so will they render the MOC in 3D if I set up the lighting, materials and other stuff in Blender?
Or do I need to render the 3D file myself (and would that even be realistic on an old ultrabook)?

I'd also like to add starfield backgrounds to my spaceships, engine glare/contrails and perhaps animations with weapons firing.

Any thoughts or suggestions? 😃
