Hi GraysonGFX,

Nope, no trial version, sorry. But if you have any question, feel free to ask!

Is it possible to retarget animations using this rig? For example, I have a Mixamo or Mocap animation and I want to retarget to bones to this rig. Thanks.

Hi GBREAL,

Technically it is possible. But I advise against doing it because MecaFig has a different rig from a classic "humanoid" rig so the result would not be the one expected.

"mecafig pose library and copyright"
Hi
mecaface has pose library and therefore has different face poses ready.
does mecafig has such a library too? or any ready animations?

I've notices mecafig's license is "Editorial" and it brings me to this question :
can I use it for making youtube videos? for example making an animation series related to movies or sports? is it allowed by the license?

these questions are important for me in order to purchase this product.
thank you

Hello my question is in regard to size of your figures. My laptop isnt super powerful but when I do epicfigrig rendering my computer just really slows down and i think its because the figures are massive and when I resized them the animation did not work.

So my question to you do you have a resizing tool or anything to do this cuz I would like to make some animations before I go to deep... Thanks!

Regards Caleb!

Hey! I may not be the creator of mecafig, but I can say that the scale of the figures do not change the render times. no matter what. So it isnt worth scaling down mecabricks models as that also breaks the materials.

Interesting..... Thanks for writing to me... Do you know anyways to cut down render times? I not new to blender but I have a new laptop that's better and my render time is way better on it.

Hi,

Citrine is right. No matter the size of the figurine, the render time depends on the complexity of your scene (polycount, shading, lighting, etc...). And Mecafig has a high resolution mesh and a complex shader that will not help to decrease this time.

There are a lot of possibilities to improve the render time. It mainly depends on the construction and the complexity of your scene. There are some tutorials for this. Take a look if you haven't already, you should find some useful information.

Thanks for getting back to me guys really apricate it!

Hey, I dont want to cause too much of an inconvenience, I just bought Mecabrick advanced and Mecafig last night but I am having issues importing minifigures in with rigs or putting rigs on the minifigures. Is there a step by step guide on how to use this add-on or a tutorial perhaps. If not it is I can always self learn and use trial and error to find a solution.

@Keaghanseth218

After installing the addon through Edit > Preferences > Addon, there should be a MecaFig tab in Blender. Just click on it and you can import a .zmbx file or create a blank Minifigure.

Either way, the rig is automatically added. [See screenshot here: https://ibb.co/SR8mhBd]

MecaFace doesn't show on the sidebar in blender. can i get some help!

Wrong forum. Plus read the documentation the mecaface addon comes with.

okay. thank you

Dear Helo

I have some questions about MecaFig:
1 What if a figure has hair and things in the hands or around the waist? What if they don't get imported? How do I import them with the figure?
2 Will this work with big figures?

Dear Helo

Hi Danewilliams4,

1- You need to import the accessories with the Mecabricks Add-on (Lite or Advanced). Then, you need to link these accessories to your Minifig. Here is a mini tutorial I wrote some times ago on how to link an accessory to a Mecafig:

"The button "Anchors" allows you to show/hide some specific bones (which look like "empties") on which you can parent your accessories:

For parent your accessories, you need to first, in Object Mode, select your accessory then select the Armature of your MecaFig. Then, go in Pose Mode (by hitting "Ctrl + Tab" or by clicking on "Enter Pose Mode" in the MecaFig panel), and select the Anchor bone on which you want to parent your accessory (if you want, by example, parent on the Head, select the bone "ANC_Head") and, finally, hit "Ctrl + P > Bone". You accessory should now be parented to the MecaFig.

If you need to quickly move an accessory to an Anchor, you can use the Snap Tool of Blender:

For this, select the armature of your MecaFig and go in Pose Mode. Select the Anchor where you want to place your accessory and hit "Ctrl + S > Cursor to Selected". Then, go back in Object Mode, select your accessory and hit "Ctrl + S > Selection to Cursor". Your accessory should now be placed on the Anchor. You'll probably need to rotate your accessory sometimes to orientate it in the right direction."

2- No, it will not work with big figures. Only with classic minifigs.

Thanks for that.

How do I add my own textures to the figures I make with MecaFig, and could that tutorial be applied to pieces I make with Blender?

How do we add custom textures to custom parts in Blender?

Hi Danewilliams4,

Just select the Part you want to add your texture and go to the "MAPS" sub-panel in the "Shading" panel of the main Mecafig panel. Choose your "Workflow" ("Color & Data" is the most recent), your "UV Map" and upload your textures.

And, yes, the previous tutorial can be applied with any pieces made with Blender.
